Hello, I just sold my ps4 to a buyer that has over 1500 feedback. I shipped the item by Fedex with adult signature confirmation required, for my protection, and per ebay policy. I informed the seller, and he is now is upset and cleaims that he works late and will miss shipment and wants to cancel sale. The item already shipped out. I've never had this happen before, what should I do??
Thanks
Angela

Buyer can schedule redelivery on a day off work.

What do I do if he refuses delivery b/c he's **bleep** off?

Per which ebay policy? SigConf wouldn't add any extra protection until the item (or total package) reaches $750. Normal tracking would suffice for this item.
It IS an inconvenience to some buyers. Aside from Saturdays I pretty much work the same scedule as my carriers do. A lot of people work these normal days and hours away from home. If you insist on adding requirements of the buyer then that should be mentioned in the listing.

signature confirmation you need to place in your description so the buyer knows

Did the policy change? Because it used to be any item over $250 ebay required signature confirmation.

Yes, it was $250 but was raised a while back.
Provide tracking information USPS Tracking is included at no extra charge when you create and print a shipping label on eBay. You can also upload your own tracking or Delivery Confirmation information in My eBay. Remember, to be covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee we require signature confirmation for packages valued at more than $750. If your transaction is $750 or more, signature confirmation will be preselected for you. You can remove this option, however, requiring a signature at delivery helps protect you if your buyer doesn't receive the item and opens a case. |

At what point did you inform the buyer? After shipping, or before?
Which eBay policy were you following?

I'm only an occasional seller, so I was unaware of the change in policy, but nonetheless I would not ship a limited edition PS4 without sign confirmation. But I didn't put it in the ad, now I know better, and have apologized to the seller for the inconvenience and informed him that he could reschedule or leave a note with signature, or return item for refund. Thanks for the help.

I hope you presented it to him as being for HIS security, given 'the prevalence of reports of porch theft over the past holiday season'.
I agree that the seller chooses the shipping service to meet the seller's need for a prompt and secure delivery.
If the customer is complaining, there is a darn good chance that you would have had an Item Not Received complaint due to 'porch theft'.

The best protection against the porch theft issue is the signature tracking . Also prevent to a huge degree INR cases that are bogus. Seems here that perhaps the seller did not have it in the listing that he required a signature. People get mad if they do not know this in advance and miss the package and yes it can be redelivered, or picked up. If the buyer no longer wants the item, the seller should not just refund the purchase, they need to call the P.O. where it is located and recall the package.

Last two packages that were sent to me that way were returned by the carrier, undelivered. Both the sender and the carrier were given quite the earful also. 'Course the value of two packages totaled a whopping $3 between them and to this day I have no idea why they were sent that method. Me and the FedEx drivers have had a few exchanges in the last year and they may not even be willing to come here again.
If I see tracking showing that method, there's a good chance the same thing will happen unless I really, really, really, really want the item.
My main issue with Orange/Purple and Brown is that I have absolutely NO idea when they will arrive. It could be anywhere between 9AM and 9PM .... literally. I've had both arrive at both ends of that range. There is NO consistency at all.
I have about 5 acres, much of which is down a slope from the road and blocked by trees, shrubs and buildings. I cannot see or hear trucks arriving when I'm out there doing yard work. Even if I could, they don't stay more than two or three minutes and there is no way I could get to them in that time. Last summer, after waiting at home and in view of the driveway all day (literally ... finding busy work to be there), FedEx finally showed up about 630PM or so after I had come inside. By the time I realized they were here, got shoes on and made it back outside, the truck was halfway down the driveway. I had to yell, holler and throw stuff at the truck to get the driver's attention.
Senders have no idea what conditions are at the buyer's location and how incredibly inconvenient 'Direct Signature Required' can be. Oh and the FedEx location? It's about 35 miles from me and in an area that I very rarely have reason to go to, so expecting me to have packages held there for pickup is unreasonable.
If you're going to send something like this to a residence, the best option is usually USPS. In my case, I know within an hour or so when the carrier will arrive each day. There is little if any guesswork involved and the PO is only a few miles away if I have to go and get it a package.
