Combining orders. What city does this guy live in?

Happy Dilemma Friday everyone.

So I'm trying to combine two orders from the same buyer (same buyer account). I know some of you never like to combine orders for various valid reasons, but to clarify I do. So let's move on with the understanding that these definitely will be combined. No need to tell me reasons why keeping them separate is more beneficial as I already know the reasons.

Both addresses are exactly the same with exception to the city. One says Markham, IL 60426-4126 and the other says Harvey, IL 60426-4126. I know that the city name doesn't really matter, so I'm probably just splitting hairs here. The google maps show both addresses to be the same house, same photo. Google search results shows about a 50/50 split between the two city names.

I have stamps.com and usually it self standardizes to a "correct" city based on zip code when the addresses import in. But this time it didn't and approved both city names. The Markham address has a phone number with a Chicago area code. The Harvey address has a different phone number that has a Nashville area code.

Which city name do I choose to combine the orders? I wonder if I can even just leave the city name blank since it's not supposed to matter right?

I am guessing they had address saved one way in ebay and the other way in Paypal. Made one order with Paypal and the other with a different payment method.

However I just wouldn't combine the orders as I don't believe they can be properly combined - I don't think ebay will accept the same tracking number for both orders since the addresses are different even if tracking is entered manually.

@iamalwaysright

"In what instances would have your shipping address as New Brighton or St. Paul? "

It doesn't matter -- the ONLY thing that matters is if the 9-digit ZIP Code is perfectly identical.

I receive mail at my Arden Hills, MN home, addressed to all THREE cities (Arden Hills, New Brighton & St. Paul) -- and the common denominator for all three addresses is the identical 9-digit ZIP Code -- 55112-1946.

No need to contact your buyer, as your buyer no doubt also receives many pieces of mail addressed similarly with multiple city names -- just go ahead & ship!

Back in 1963, my father decided to test out "these newfangled ZIP Codes", and mailed a letter, addressed to himself, with our correct street address, but a fake city name, instead of the actual name of the city in which we lived -- plus the new ZIP Code.  A day later, he received the letter he had mailed, without a problem -- all that mattered to the post office was the ZIP Code.

USPS is not concerned with the names of cities and towns -- they are primarily interested in the ZIP Code.

So go ahead & ship -- everything is legit!

Most of my ID says I live in Victoria. My municipal tax bill says I live in Oak Bay. Some notices from the local government say I live in the Capital Region District.

All are correct.

All have the same postal code.

Yes.

The Markham address has a phone number with a Chicago area code. The Harvey address has a different phone number that has a Nashville area code.

Cell phones often have area codes that are unrelated to the current address of the owner.
