I'm obviously not a clothing seller; However, my elderly neighbor lady asked me if I could help her sell some clothing here.
I really have no idea how to market this item nor the others that she wishes for me to sell for her. I put this item up for auction just to see what may happen. I have no idea about selling clothing.
If some of you experienced clothing sellers could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
I.E. Does the listing look alright? I know the pictures could be better, but as said, I don't sell clothing and it's rather difficult trying to take pictures when you don't have the proper background for clothing.
Item #324589416336
Thank you in advance!

I don't sell clothing either, but I think your listing is fine. The one thing I would suggest is adding the size in the title.

Your listing looks fine to me but I would make the title different, such as "Gilden Brand Hoodie Sweatshirt - Union School City State - sz S - EUC". (EUC is "excellent used condition".) Since this hoodie is from a specific school, it would be helpful to buyers to have that school name and city and state in the title. Size is also helpful in a title, so other sizes can skip over the listing if it is not their size.
I don't know what kind of financial arrangements you have with your neighbor but I hope you are charging her for all fees and your time. Also, you are going to have to deal with potential returns, etc. so that needs to be addressed with her. On a $25 item, neither of you is going to make much money.

$25 is the BIN -- started at $7.50.

It's very kind of you to want to help your neighbor and I am sure she appreciates it.
That having been said, clothing is the most saturated category on eBay, especially used clothing.
Also, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, but the lady's story could have been left out of your listing.
Not trying to discourage you (and your friend), just explaining a few things.

Yes, I know. Just inferring that even if hoodie sells for the BIN price of $25.00, neither will make much money.
That brings up my next point; I definitely would not list clothing at auction, I would only list for Buy It Now for the price desired for the item. Too much chance of the item just selling for the auction opening bid, and neither will make any money at that price.

Add size in the title and the name and location of the school if they'll fit. Add measurements, at minimum the length from neckline to hem and the width from one armpit seam to the other. Mention specifically that the item is black, because the photos might make it look gray. Your images are good, but I would lead with an image of the entire garment rather than the closeup.
As noted, clothing is a very saturated area. Start the auction bidding at a price you'd be willing to sell for.
Take out all the references to the current owner. Nobody wants to wear a spendthrift old lady's used clothes.
Keep the clothing in your possession after you photograph it. Not only so you can ship promptly, but also because sometimes consignors change their minds and give stuff away even if it's an active listing.

Sorry @pickapaper
I'm not trying to make money per financial arrangement with my neighbor lady, just trying to help her out.
I'm quite aware of fees, returns, shipping, etc.
I can eat those costs and headaches, she can't.
I do appreciate your helpful advice though. We may be doing business in the future

Is that a local school? If so, why not list on Facebook Marketplace or Craig's List also?

Thank you all for your input. I truly do appreciate it.
I'm going to donate all clothing articles to a battered women's shelter through another eBayer that I have done business with before.
I'll ship it on my dime and give my neighbor a few bucks.
Everybody Happy! 😀
Always on the Sunnyside, keep it on the Sunnyside!

That is such a nice thing for you to do, made my day reading that 🙂

I was just going to post to save yourself the effort and just donate the clothing. Selling clothing on Ebay is a waste of time as it is arguably the most saturated market on Ebay and rarely worth the effort of taking measurements and photos.
