Clothing Sellers, Clothing Category corrections/additions......please correct/add

These are problems with categories that have been id'd by sellers....some need fixing urgently as either the listing will not go thru (waist size in suits/suit separates when listing a blazer), or because there are dual places to list and problems with item specifics.......

Where does Blazer belong?
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women's Clothing > Coats, Jackets & Vests
Item Specific:  Style:  Blazer
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women's Clothing > Suits & Suit Separates
Item Specific:  Style:  Suit Jacket/Blazer

Needs title adjustment.......Button Down refers to collars......and some styles in this sub category do not even have buttons...tank tops/turtlenecks.  


NEED MORE INFORMATION FROM SELLERS:

These are suggestions/needs to be added to Item specifics in certain Categories.  Since write in Item Specifics are not categorized by ebay, the listing will end up in "unspecified" if they aren't boxes supplied by ebay, it is necessary to have them added......  i.e. there are over a million skirts unspecified if you search by occasion. 

So, sellers, please add your suggestions, and we will try to get them sent in:

The same happens when you have a size that ebay does not like.  Lets say a womens size 32 capri.  Ebay wants you to list it under 32", or a 32W, no that is not right.  A size 32 is NOT a 32 W.  Okay so you type in your own size 32 but when you try to do a search (logged out) narrow down the search on the left, there is no size 32 so how does one find a size 32???

Same goes if you search for fashion bug clothing.  They are such as 26/28w, there is no such size in ebay world.  


Not everyone is little.  Look at womens sizes, a regular only goes up to size 22.  There are alot of sizes bigger than 22 and NO a 24 is not a 24W.  So if you post your 24 in 24W you will get a snad because there is a big difference.

If you put in your measurements in IS, ebay is deciding whether it is Regular or Big and Tall even if you put in it was Regular. Using whatever measurement chart they use.

What Category are you talking about?  I don't think I've seen any actual measurement requirements in item specifics?

male and female active wear- it has all changed to "tops" - the pants skorts etc. . 

  I see both top and bottom category in Mens/womans activewear..... I realize it's a pain to change categories...but is there is problem within the categories?

My comment relates to: I use a 3rd party listing vendor, AW2000. It keeps everything as it was initially listed not what ebay has changed on its own. That includes the Item Specifics, Category, everything. 

My men's jackets ended according to eBay putting them in Big & Tall. My initial listing was Regular. All I could figure out was the Bots saw the actual measurements and decided to put it into where they think it belonged which was the Big & Tall. Therefore, my comment. I had mentioned to you previously, not only are active, already listed items being randomly changed, but your unsolds (and solds) are changed. Nothing matches what my program has saved. And I use a very reliable non-ebay listing program.

If we only knew HOW eBay is coming up with these changes then you can

And...don't we still have the option in IS "to enter your own"? And I have never gotten answer whether the search ONLY picks up what eBay has in those blocks and NOT the seller's "Enter Your Own?

Lastly, you do know we are giving eBay information that should be for them to use as part of whatever? My ideas are my ideas. I add my own IS everytime I list. If they are not being seen, then why bother?

I sell mostly clothing.
I have struggled with Clothing Categories since Day One.
A few additional irritants come to mind;

*no suitable category/sub-category for short women, I even had a "buyer" rage at me once "you cannot list a Short as Petite! they are not the same!" Well, I knew that but was trying to use limited choices.

*Macao is not the same as Macau, let's spell it however the natives spell it, please.

*not enough fiber choices and if I enter my own I have a feeling it does not come up in search

*button down, yes, that is the time-honored way to indicate a COLLAR that the tips button down, not the front of the shirt buttoning up (and a few polos  do not button at all, just a placket)

*eBay now has a system that flags and asks you to reconsider if you tick an item as used but have the term new in the title, cool, that is good. How about they flag EVERY clothing item with VINTAGE in the title and ask you to reconsider if it is indeed over 20 years old?

I think enter your own options are not picked up in search, but I could be wrong about that........what I know is the filters that are set up for each category (shown on the left of a search page) only pick up the options from what ebay provides.  If you put in womans skirt as a search, then find the "see all" filter on the left, it will show you the list of options you can search, one of which (for skirts) is occasion.....only  those mentioned above are shown, the rest of skirts that don't belong in one of those few "occasions" are dumped into the unspecied category........over a million of them...........

Why bother.......at one time ebay said they would add stuff if enough people added a certain option.........I don't know if they do or not.........

Hi, just did a test NOT using my own listing program. Did sell similar from my non-functional Unsold page.

Under type: enter your own. 

Under theme: Ticket? what is a ticket? then enter your own.

Requires Waist: I am not going to unbox my item to remeasure if I didn't include the waist.

Type: drop down shows Blazer, Sportcoat and others then Enter Own.

Main Category: Suit & Suit Jackets. 

Jacket Size Required: if there is no garment size label, this is just a guess on the seller's part.

That is why I put in all of my clothing scripts: Do not use title, Item Specifics, or brand Label (if there is one). Use actual measurements provided here. Match to another you know fits you well.

I cancelled the sell similar.

And my Hawaiian shirts (3) all say button down. Perfect scenario for a SNAD. Do we need to include at the top of our scripts (or in the Item Condition which they see first): Do not pay attention to the category or subcategory. Please email for clarification OR do we include "do not believe the information submitted here lololol?" Can't win.

I just googled "ebay category lists". I got the listings, but it is from April with an announcement about revisions to be done in June? Does anyone know how I can get the June/July/August update?

yes- there are more problems than just changing a category to an incorrect category ( which is a big problem).  first of all all the information is  all blanked out in all the specifics when you change the category to the correct category. they could have at least kept our specifics in tact  ( also the category does not show up for some reason, - you have to use 'search"- i.e button down shirts to polo) I have to cut and paste all my specifics in miscorsoft word to save them, then go back and start filling in all the specifics again.  the specifics no longer are intuitive, meaning there would be suggestions based on your title that you could use which would save some time. also certain specifics are missing. in all the categories that i have had prblems-  in mens polo shirts,  pattern in completely gone.  sleeve length is also gone, as is material. in mens/woms active wear, they also do not have a way to select what specific sports you item is for like they used to, you can only pick one. pattern is missing in both m/w activewear   also.  i have to manually insert the boxes. it is time consuming and honestly i cannot fathom how anyone  with this type of tech job could screw up so much.

It is more than just a pain to change categories. i have noticed my sales drop since this started, people use the category search to find items and cannot find items if they are in the wrong category..  i estimate it will take a month for me to manually change all my categoies, that is time i need to list new items, etc which ends up as more of a financial deficit for our business.

I can see why they may not be able migrate old item specfics to a new category.  The new category may have different sizing.......so to migrate smlxl to a box that has 10,12,14 sizes may knock out the 10,12,14 sizes (?).......

Agree that in polo to polo, the same IS should be there........even if they have no way to migrate, it's ridiculous that the IS  are so lacking in the NEW category......

I can also (now) see why no one has suggested new changes, lol........it's too much of a pain to adjust listings IF IS are changed....  too bad.....some changes do look like that they would benefit, but again, I'm not a clothing seller, except in a few cats.....
