Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Yes, we are currently conducting a temporary test that is focused on simplifying and improving the buying experience. The experience you are seeing is how all buyers are currently accessing item descriptions when they use our mobile apps. We are exploring buyer experiences when the buying process is consistent across all devices and screens.

While I understand what you are trying to convey I’m pretty sure there is another reason completely.
I am very certain that Ebay, as well as other sites, simply does not want to maintain a mobile version and a ‘PC’ version. I believe this is mistake. While some people maintain that upwards of 35% of buyers use a mobile device I would contend that higher ticket items will never be sold while viewing a 1 inch picture with NO description.
I believe that trying to develop 1 version is simply short-sighted

So how much business is everyone losing today on top of the business they get where the description wasn't read??
I don't know. I was going to list stuff for sale today, but probably won't.

@dmseeleys wrote:Because Buyers don't read listings then complain and want their money back. Heck I sold a couple coupons with pictures of the coupon and they didn't look at the pictures either. Said they were buying an $800.00 Generator for $30 something with free Freight shipping when it was a coupon to save a couple hundred to buy one. The listing had Coupon in the title all over the description in red bold enlarged print. They were mad at me that is was not the real thing and wanted me to send them the real thing or a refund after the listing said no refunds on coupons. I don't know how they even knew what they bought?
So you sold a FREE coupon for 30 bucks?

How in the living heck is hiding the description from me making my buying experience "better"? The mobile apps are horrible, that's why I stick to my desktop on eBay. Here again we have yet another step added on top of all the other steps that are unique to eBay and not your major competitors. What the Sam Hill are you people thinking? The site is too archaic, glitch- ridden, search is beyond awful and clunky compared to all the others as it is- and now this?
eBay is either going out of business or doing their best to try. Why would you make trying to buy here such a negative experience?
Sorry, but this is nothing but bat dung crazy.

How long is this test going to last?
Will it be the new norm shortly?
The ultimate objective of this exercise is to deliver the same inferior shopping "experience" to PC and laptop users as they deliver to mobile device users.
A new dumbed down across the board standard.
Buyers don't read descriptions?
Tough luck...for sellers.

It is amazing how ebay thinks they "IMPROVE" the buyer experience. This new "click if you want to see what your are buying" thing is only goint to lead to more returns and more negatives from buyers who don't want to be bothered clicking on another link. Many don't read the descriptions that are visible.
I pay to have my ads seen, not displayed on another page in a link the customer may or may not see and may or may not click.

First - instead of doing Beta testing for a new idea - why not fix the mobile app so buyers don't think they're getting free shipping - when there is a shipping charge. I've seen numerous posts this week from buyers and sellers complaining about this. Fix one problem before you create another!
Second - I don't use mobile devices for my purchases but I could see Ebay's point of allowing a buyer to see a larger picture of the item on their mobile screen - but if they are interested in purchasing or bidding - then they would have to click on the item description and would have to scrill to the bottom of that ( hopfully reading the description along the way) before bein able to place a bid or buy using BIN at the bottom of the description screen. I know people were complaining of not being able to view the item description without a lot of scrolling around - but it's really stupid to put the BIN or auction bid option on the first page with the current Ebay SNAD policies.

Just now went to show my husband this new madness and the listings I checked in collectibles, books and ethnicities all had their descriptions fully intact. So maybe the screaming was actually heard!

PLEASE everyone, click the link to let them know what you think!!! If we all don't do that we'll get, just like in government, WHAT WE DESERVE. Take action!!!!

Maybe?????
Hassle Free Returns will be forced on all sellers with the coming Spring Update.
Buyers who do not click the button to actually read the description will not be allowed to file an SNAD case against the seller. No read - no case.

No you just prob didnt get in on the test session this time. Next time you log in or check it may be back.

This is the quote that I found scary: "Under current CEO John Donahoe, eBay has worked to be more of a catch-all marketplace, with goods that appeal to both high-end and low-end buyers. Wednesday, Swan said the marketplace would narrow its focus to the 40% of the buying public “who loves great deals." What does that mean? Are they going to require that everything start at .99 cents for those who love a great deal? Nothing would suprise me anymore.

Buyers don't read descriptions?
I guess the new improved buyer experience will be that they won't be inconvienced by having to look at the descriptions either.
