In post #69 tyler@ebay agrees with the question asked that an automatically relisted GTC listing won't show up as newly listed.

In post #82 @Anonymous agrees with the question asked that an automatically relisted GTC listing will show up as newly listed.

So which one is it?

I have a number of items listed as GTC. Based upon the views they get, I always thought when they renewed they renewed as newly listed and when they were ending the listing showed the ending soon. I would love some clarification non this as well 🙂

Tyler is correct. Trinton is correct if he means that GTC listings will show as they have always shown, no changes to that---- In Ending Soonest, they show as their 30 days winds down, same as a regular 30 day listing. In Newly listed, they show when they are, in fact, new---that is, the FIRST time they are listed. Auto-renewals do not get bumped up in Newly Listed.

When a page of search results is sorted by "newly listed," the GTC listings are sorted according to their original listing date, not by their latest rollover date. To easily verify this, just do a search and then scroll down -- you will see past months as well as dates within the past 30 days. The past months appear because those are GTC listings that are more than 30 days old.

nobody's_perfect---That is correct. Basically, once all listings are GTC, then the order in Newly Listed, can be thought of as "Listings That Are Actually New to the Site", with the exception of GTC listings that have been ended and relisted. For buyers who use "newly Listed" it will actually reduce the number of items they are seeing over and over and over, and increase the number of truly new to the site items they'll be seeing.

Hi @carlqsportscards, @my-cottage-books-and-antiques is correct in their interpretation of the responses from Tyler and I in the chat this week. GTC listings will show up as normal when newly listed (ie. when first listed to the site), and can have the Ending Soonest filter applied as normal as GTC listings have a 30 day duration that auto-renews. Sorry if my response was phrased in a way that led to confusion!

Oh, good! Glad that is finally clarified - It's a definite maybe - it just depends!

What about when it relists?Your response indicates not:

This indicates when it auto relists it won't from your wording

Hi @moms**art**window** - when a Good Til Cancelled item renews it is not considered a newly listed item, so ***~~it would not receive a boost in search. It will continue to receive 'ending soonest' boosts as it approaches its renewal date~~, and watchers will still see the countdown of the days remaining in its current cycle. Thanks!

I want to clarify a few things as it pertains to the Best Match algorithm, and correct incomplete or incorrect information we may have given previously:

There is no ‘boost’ applied to an item for being either newly listed, or ending shortly.
There is no such thing as a ‘boost’ to search placement. More information about optimizing for Best Match can be found here.

Good ‘Til Cancelled listings renew every 30 days, keeping their watcher count, sales history and item number. If a buyer is watching your item they will be alerted when a GTC listing is approaching its renewal date.

If you know, now that all FP will be GTC, is ebay going to continue to flag (and possibly remove) so called "stale" listings?

I assume having all FP as GTC will make it easier to track these so called stale listings now?

Hi @myjunqueyourtreasure - I don't have any information on how this change would (or if it would) impact our process for 'stale' listings.

I'd agree that all fixed price listings being GTC could make 'stale' items easier to identify, and if I hear anything about a process changing I'll let you know!
