Did you mean:

Charity

I am so not liking the fact that EBay is automatically taking money out of proceeds for charity without my permission! This starts in Nov and I am taking my listing down because of it. It’s bad enough with all the other fees a seller has to pay, now this!! Not happy! 😞

Re: Charity

Sellers have the option of donating some or all of their eBay sales to charity.  It is an easy option to take, and I can see how a seller might check the box without really catching it, if not paying attention.  Sorry, but this one is chalked up to user error.

Re: Charity

I looked at your listing …there’s nothing, absolutely nothing indicating you donate to charity. Unless you’ve bought something and clicked on the donate to charity that a seller has placed in their listings.

Or have you signed up for some sort of promoted listing?
Other than that I have no idea what you are talking about.

Re: Charity

This doesn’t have any effect on anyone unless you donate your proceeds.

@ebooksdiva

 That's what I thought, too. 🙌

Re: Charity

@peggyannorr

Checked all of my recent sales.

I see no deductions for "charity".

Did you inadvertently click on something to have that happen?

Did eBay inadvertently opt you into making donations to "charity"?

@peggyannorr : Do you mean to say that eBay is taking their percentage out of the amount you designate for charity? More details, and a link to whatever you are referring to that starts in November, would be helpful here. Please click the Reply button below and tell us more.

Re: Charity

No where did I check off permission for them to take a donation. It shows I have 2 outstanding invoices, one for $64 and the other for $39 for donations to the Elton John AIDS foundation! They posted that they will automatically take donations out starting in Nov. and we will no longer have to pay PayPal.  It’s just crazy, it’s not as if we don’t have to pay substantial fees as it is! Thank you for you reply,

Peggy

Re: Charity

Why does it matter if they take it out immediately versus invoice you once a month?

Granted. If I recall it said you don't get refunded the charity amount if you do a refund. Which is a little annoying. But hopefully they have an option to deal with that like they do now. But even then. Myself at least I doubt I'll bother.

I don't know. Seems like a weird thing to get your knickers in a twist over. But maybe there is something nefarious that I'm just not seeing.

Re: Charity

The thing is….,I don’t want to be part of the charitable program. Is there some way to opt out that you know of?

Re: Charity

If you did not click a "charity" box then you need to contact ebay and find out why they are taking money out. I believe the November date is only for people who click on the charity giving program and the change involves automating the reimbursement process.

Go in each individual listing that is set up for charity and uncheck the option and save.

Or go to Listings -> Edit Listings -> Check off everything -> Bulk Edit -> Charity -> Select Remove donations from selected listings -> Apply -> Submit

I might be missing a step but you should be able to figure it out.

Re: Charity

and we will no longer have to pay PayPal.

EBay is no longer connected with Paypal.

The companies parted ways back in 2015 and as a seller you would be paid, and billed, through Managed Payments.

Check the headers on that email.

Did it really come from eBay?

Sounds like a scam.
