Sold a set of Panama Jack plates on 10/19/22. USPS confirmed delivery 10/24/22 to an address in West Palm Beach, Fl.
New buyer had 0 feedback when purchased. Her account now shows 1 feedback - left by me.
Here it is January 24 (3 months after purchase and delivery) and she files a chargeback with her credit card claiming she does not recognize the charge to eBay, INC.
Hoping eBay will win the dispute for me. Not counting on it but eBay did win 2 of those in the past 2 years for me.
What do you think? Bogus account set up to steal holiday gifts from multiple sites? Identity theft with an account set up to steal one set of plates? Sad case of Alzheimer's where she paid, received the plates and uses them but knows she did not use her credit card on eBay?
(I have a friend whose husband has beginning Alzheimer's who began ordering things online then swore he never did. She destroyed his credit card and keeps hers in a lock box except for when she needs it. She cancelled her Amazon account too so he couldn't use that while she was at work).
The cost of doing business online. Sometimes you lose.

Whatever the reason for the payment dispute, you should be covered @b86fiero for a "doesn't recognize the transaction" scenario.
When a buyer opens a payment dispute because they didn't receive the item or they don't recognize the transaction, sellers will be asked to provide:
If eBay determines that the item was successfully delivered or picked up:

I've been covered by eBay every time that has happened to me (only 3 times or so), I did not have to do anything & eBay sent me an email saying it was covered.

As for what happened, who knows. I personally had to contest 8 charges once on my acct. The person at my Insert Huge-International-Bank name was COMPLETELY inept & put 2 months worth of tx's in dispute. I spent an hour on the phone & multilple callbacks explaining it to this idiot. Most people wouldn't have bothered & 2 months of legit tx's would have been disputed, in addition to the 8 that were not legit.
I've had buyers when this happened who had left FB & even communicated to me that they loved their items. Sometimes it's the banks clerical errors/ineptitude.

@b86fiero
Sometimes I think the problem is how the charge is presented on a person's statement. It does not specify the item, but rather just a generic charge amount to eBay Commerce, Inc. with an order number that is NOT the item number. Granted, you would think someone would notice this BEFORE a couple of months have passed, but who knows.

@ittybitnot That's an excellent point! BTW, I for one am always months behind on balancing my CC statements. I just finished September LOL, so I get it. That may explain the ones I had where I KNEW from msgs that the buyer loved the items!
