Cannot answer messages or questions - says over 90 days...?

Did you have any items removed by ebay? If a listing has been removed and you try to respond to a question, that's the error message you'll get. 

FYI, it happens to buyers who ask questions too. I've asked questions as a buyer and after getting a reply from the seller, when I try to thank the seller,  I get a message that it can't be delivered (something to the effect of) because the listing was either removed or over 90 days old.

 No - this is something new .. past couple days. Cannot respond to questions...

I haven't been able to answer buyer questions from the seller hub for quite a while now.  Plus, when I answer from the email or messages, it doesn't delete it from the unanswered questions on the seller hub.

I had the same thing!

 

if you go through your e-mail in box, you should be able to respond.

 

If you click on the item with question, the 90 day thing shows up.

 

My question ended up being from a scammer who wanted me to txt them. I just ignored!

@onlythe30s  This has happened to me very periodically.  I simply answer the question through 'messages', then have to check "answered" under the drop-down next to the item in seller hub.

Hi - Same error thru messages/contact seller and item questions... frustrating - cannot answer potential buyers...

I've had a few of these. The latest I finally tried just waiting 3 seconds and trying again, and it went right through. Go figure!

I have 2 items that ebay says I have questions to answer.  For both I get the "... over 90 days..." error message.  The very nice lady at customer support says it might be a bug and they will add my info to their list.

It is indeed a bug that's been around for quite a while. eBay is evidently ignoring it, but a workaround is to go straight to your Messages folder and see if you actually have a new message (question) there. If not, then there's nothing to respond to. To clear it, choose the "Mark as Answered" option in the Actions column for that item on your My eBay page.

It's been happening for months, quite annoying.  Just answer it from your email, that always works for me.

Same here.  I can't answer them through Messages either & haven't been able to for months.  The only 

place I can answer them from is my email link  & then I have to go mark it Answered in My Ebay.

Maybe one of you could check into this????  This has been going on for months, affecting many sellers, seems like something as basic as the ability to answer a potential buyer's questions, should be fixed by now. 

 

Like OP states, when you try to answer a buyer's question from within My Ebay or Messages, you get the 'over 90 days' error, even though they are brand new messages.   I don't have a current one now to put a screen shot in here for you, but it's been going on for months & as you can see from this thread, it's affecting numerous users.   You have to go to your email to be able to answer questions from potential buyers.  

 

Maybe if someone has a message in their queue, they can post a screen shot of the error message?

Hey @simply-the-best-for-you thanks for tagging us!

 

I have seen this pop up here and there but typically clearing out the cache and cookies or trying it in an incognito browser makes it go away. I'm not sure what could be flagging it, but if doing those two things don't work then calling in to get it documented would be best! The more examples the tech teams get, the faster they can pin point the issue, and in turn be resolved. Thanks!
