Good morning everyone, a quick question to anyone that may have experienced this scenario.
A buyer bought two items overnight, they have not paid as yet, their feedback left is appalling, every comment is a negative with perhaps a positive here and there with a negative comment, I didn't count them all, I estimate 35 negatives, all posted consecutively.
I would like to cancel the order using 'problem with buyers address' as the reason, my question is, will this get me off the hook without any impact to my metrics?, I am a TRS if that makes any difference in the equation.
Thank you in advance for your time and experience.

that is not a good thing to do or a smart thing
its cancel button abuse...we have all been there with a rotten buyer we want to get rid of
the proper thing to do is to wait 96 hours and then cancel for unpaid item
maybe the sale will go thru without a hitch.........I guess you are afraid of finding out........I woud be too
the cancel button is not an easy button when its based on a fib
it coud hurt your metrics if the buyer made a report for false cancellation, more than likely nothing will happen but is a bad habit to do it

I see that, thank you for your response.

I know it's tempting to do (trust me, I've been there myself!) but I wouldn't do it. If this buyer is so reckless with his/her negative feedback history they probably have no problem at all reporting you for false cancellation which can hurt you with eBay. Just wait it out 4 days and cancel the minute you get the option to cancel for non payment. If it goes through, be ready to report the buyer for feedback abuse if you feel they are just giving a negative out of spite. As a TRS, you might get a sympathetic rep that will remove the feedback and put a mark on the buyers account. Not by any means a guarantee but TRS does help getting a rep to dig a little bit into the request instead of automatically hitting the decline button. At least that has been my experience. YMMV.

Thank you, understood, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I will wait it out and deal with the process as it unfolds, I did talk with a CSR via phone, I have little faith in what they told me, (recommended canceling the order for the reasons stated) the agent went on to say "we have many issues with this account", this is why I asked my question here, where better to get advice than from folks that have experienced the exact same scenario, thanks again.

It's wise to have very little faith in what they told you. In fact, it's wiser yet to have zero faith in the phone CSRs. The eBay for Business Facebook and Twitter pages are better by far, but in this case, just listen to the advice you've been given here. As for negative feedback, they are theoretically unable to even leave feedback if you follow the process to cancel for nonpayment, so you shouldn't even have to fight to get anything removed. We've never once received feedback at all for orders cancelled for nonpayment.

Brief update, the buyers account has been terminated, both orders cancelled, a big thank you to all who responded, onward and upward.

Those customer service people are funny man. I talked to one and told him a user told me to take down a "random record" listing I had posted. I asked him if it was against policy and it was crazy but I swear he cut me off before I got done with talking and said "Sir, they're just jealous of you, that's your competition." In a really thick latino accent. I just started laughing inside because I knew the guy that informed me wasn't even selling records. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make (and I think you already understand this) is to take everything ebay CSR's say with a grain (or two) of salt. I think you know the right thing to do, at this point. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt, if he gives you a problem just add him to the block list and be done with it.
Hope all goes well there, though.
From,
A guy also dealing with a UPO buyer...well...2 of them actually... ergh.

Thanks for responding, I appreciate it, hope all turns out well for you, in my case I was indeed going to wait the 4-days, if he paid I would ship, and if he didn't, I would close for non payment, what actually happened is that eBay shut him down for reasons unknown to me, I didn't report the buyer in anyway as I had nothing to report, the CSR guy advised me to cancel the listings and 'all will be fine', he said that he was reading from a manual, I could hear the sound of pages turning, that is when I decided to come on here and speak to real live people who have lived it, I received good advice and went with it, next thing you know, POOF, the buyer is no more, he had stuff going on for sure.
Good luck with everything.
