Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

I am finding more & more sales where overseas buyers are using friends or relatives address & I am getting poked for international fees.     I rather lose the sale than get charged yet another fee.  EBAY needs to point blank put the load on the buyer for the international transaction fee..  Otherwise every sale will be axed and my response to the buyer will be >>  Sorry I am canceling the sale because I feel I should not get charged a INTERNATIONAL fee due to you being a foreign buyer using a USA based address.. Until eBay starts charging buyers that fee I will continue to cancel orders that pose an international fee to me which I didn't ask for..

Re: Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

In principal I agree with your sentiment that if delivery is to an address in your home country then this should be treated as a domestic sale, however there are a couple of advantages that in my view outweigh the disadvantage of paying those additional international fees.

I deliver the item to an address in my home country and In vast majority of cases these transactions are completed without too many problems or delays and my 30 days return clock starts from expected delivery date or actual delivery date. When item arrives into another country does not matter.

I am not responsible for sending the item to another country with increased possibilities of delays and claims of INR .

I accept that items listed exclusively for my domestic market and with no international shipments and in that case these additional fees are not fair and should not be applied.

Re: Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

If a buyer in another country is using friends or relatives USA address, and you deliver it there, then why would you pay international charges for domestic delivery? It would be the buyer's friend or relative's responsibility to pay postage, including international fees, if they sent it somewhere else. Sounds like ebay is falsely charging international fees for domestic delivery?

Re: Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

Ebay is charging the fee as part of the money handling component......just like paypal did.........  it's really a minuscule amt......1.65%(?)......... but if you can/not afford to turn down sales because of it....certainly your choice.

I think referring to it in your listings would probably qualify the listing for getting it pulled.

Why would ebay charge an international shipping fee for a domestic delivery?

We haven't had this issue and it doesn't seem fair. But if you cancel sales won't ebay ding your metrics? And, after a few, won't your account be suspended?

Just doing some simple math... Does the percentage of foreign buyers you get over 1.65%? Because if so, what you're planning on doing will result in less money in your pockets... Doesn't sound like a great business decision to me...

Re: Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

To best of my knowledge charge structure is triggered by the country in which buyer is registered and eBay site that he or she is choosing.

A buyer located in Europe and Login on to eBay.com to buy a gift for their friend or family in USA will be treated as an overseas/ International buyer and fees will be charged accordingly and these fees include foreign exchange charges as it is likely that buyer paid in euros and seller got paid in US$.

It's not a shipping fee........it's a transaction fee.........because the buyer pays in a different currency or has on a credit card issued in a different country than the US......

If you cancel a bunch of sales and your buyers report that you'll end up in ebay jail.

Correct eBay should not charge.   I have had some instances where the foreign buyer really wants item that I have given the option of PAY EXTRA or have your USA based relative actually BUY IT FOR THEM..

The referral is a warning so they know whats coming.  Of course the overseas buyers don't care or know

I say its not the correct address in my reason to ebay.  My loss, their loss & the international buyers loss.   I dont look at any of that stupid metrics ebay provides -  I missed the simple old days it was so much cut & dry. they have OVER ENGINEERED everything.  An example is the  now gone CLASSIC VIEW 😞

Re: Cancelling all sales to international buyers who use a USA address

It is the principle of the matter - There is an ass for every seat, so a relist/sale to USA buyer will come eventually down the road.    Had a guy from New Zealand buy an item & the international fee was $8- Why should I eat that? He had his buddy in USA buy it and my pocket had the $8 more in it.

Correct and that fee should be placed on the BUYER NOT ME or any of us here in USA.
