What happen if I cancel too many orders due to out of stocks items? Will my account get infected?

Yes it will. You will fall below standard and will end up paying higher fees. Best not to cancel.

Not infected - e-Bay does not attack Sellers with viruses.

It can lower your metrics and in turn, decrease sales, place your account in jeopardy of remaining viable or allowed to sell.

Each Seller is expected to have the inventory on-hand/ready to ship.

"Don't sell things you don't have on hand." -Basic eBay advice.    (a.k.a. "Don't Dropship".  That's a dangerous game on eBay.)

Hi @us-wholesale

The two most serious things a seller can do to sink their own accounts:

  • Cancel orders using 'out of stock' as the reason.
  • Fail to handle return requests (and 'item not received' cases) before the buyer can ask eBay to step in.

There is nothing eBay dislikes more out-of-stock cancellations.  It will affect your metrics and, in turn, your fees.  It can lead to a permanent ban on selling on eBay.

You are dropshipping and that is the fast track to failure on eBay -- because while you have no control over the authenticy, quality, or availibility of the goods you are selling, you have absolute responsibility to buyers for each of those things.

I am frankly amazed that you have any sales at all with "Located in:  variety location, United States" in your listings.  Terrible.

Harsh?  Yes.  But remember that you asked.

If you are drop shipping and out of stock as others have posted, it can be the kiss of death.  Drop shipping is a risky business platform.  It has been advised here many, many times that this is just not a good way to sell on Ebay.  You do not have the items in your possession and vendors are known to be unrealiable at times.  I would re consider drop shipping and try another avenue for selling.

Good luck and Happy Holidays.

Based on that "Located in: variety location, United States" I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that some, or all, of the stuff is not even really in the U.S.

Your account will be suspended.  And any other accounts that you have will suffer the same fate.  Good luck on your selling journey.

Just asking this puts you on my radar. Why would I commit to an auction of yours or read thru your listings If I wind up having my transaction cancelled in the end because you repeatedly failed logistics?

Not trying to be mean, but if you have to ask that question, you aren't ready.

Here's a link to eBay's seller performance policy, which you should read.  It states in part: "The transaction defect rate is the percentage of your transactions that have one or more of the following defects:

  • eBay Money Back Guarantee cases or disputes closed without seller resolution
  • Seller-initiated transaction cancellation

To meet our minimum standard, you can only have up to 2% of transactions with one or more defects over the most recent evaluation period."
