You must request to void USPS labels.
That must be done within 120 hours of purchase.
Purchase will be refunded in 2-3 weeks when USPS sees that the label was not used.

No, canceling an order or issuing a refund doesn't void the shipping label.
You have to void the shipping label by taking these steps:
Go to: Orders
On the left side find and click on link: Shipping Labels
Find the Order you have canceled
Click on drop down box: Action
You will see an option: Void Label
Please Note: the refund for voided label will not show instantly. It will take few days to appear into your account. If it fails to appear, you have to contact EBay regarding the issue.

You have to void any shipping labels manually @iodlee. To void a USPS shipping label purchased through eBay, go to this page, find the order and select Void from the Actions drop-down. The reprint option is available for 24 hours, the void option is available for 5 days.
Printed eBay Standard Envelope labels are non-refundable and cannot be voided.
eBay International Standard Delivery labels, UPS labels and FedEx labels are not charged to your account until they are used, so there is no void option.

Do your answers apply to also Fedex labels printed on ebay?

Yes, my above response included information about FedEx labels in the last sentence.
"eBay International Standard Delivery labels, UPS labels and FedEx labels are not charged to your account until they are used, so there is no void option."

The email that ebay sends to you states, "You've refunded the buyer for canceling this order. We've notified them, so you're all set! You don't need to do anything else, you're all set."
NO, YOU ARE NOT ALL SET!
You still need to void the USPS postage label that you paid for. The postage is not voided automatically and you will not receive a refund on it unless you manually go through the process to void it. The above responses describe how to void a USPS postage label. If you use UPS or FedEx, the shipping labels are automatically voided if they are not used.
