Can't upload picture to message board. Get Error Message.

I'm trying to upload a picture to a message board and I get the following error message:

The file DSCN7314.JPG exceeds the maximum file size of 3072K. Reduce the file size and try again.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Check the properties of the image to see how big it actually is.

Try cropping or resizing the image with a photo editor to make it smaller.
