Why does ebay have certain categories blocked from being able to use my spendable funds? I.E. coins, bullion and such. At first with managed payments I couldn't sell in these categories and now I can't buy from them.
I activated the spendable funds option and now I don't have a regular payout schedule and I can hoard some funds to spend back on ebay.

It looks like coins and bullion are excluded from buying with Spendable Funds. >> Spendable funds | eBay

Another reason I do not enter this program and many others eBay offers. You EARNED your money. The expectation to spend it on what you want is reasonable. As to why is no concern to me. It's their site so their rules, I am sure they have their reasons.
My rule is, I can spend my money on things I choose to buy. If a program interferes with that I won't join. If policy is not clear, I won't join. If I cannot back out, I won't join.

Let's see.... I'm supposed to trust them with my bank account and SSN or else I can't sell. But I can't buy precious metal with Spendable funds because they can't trust me and can't come back and get the money if they decide I'm to blame for something. (but they already can't do that if I buy something like underwear anyway, so???) Head: scratched. One more reason I didn't sign up.

I found that as well. Just don't know what the rationale for excluding certain categories would be. Guess I'll go back to taking my funds out into my bank account and then spending the money that way and costing a processing fee.

Must be some government regulation on tracking peoples bullion spending.
Or maybe they have a high rate of fraud in that category and they want to be able to direct people to do chargebacks as a last resort and dont want to deal with the hassle themselves.

Nothing to do with government regulations. Fraud try any collectible let alone items used daily that were made in China and are sold as being made by a known company.

I'm just guessing. But they must have a reason right?

I fail to understand how people get suckered into this and good luck with getting out of it and getting things cleaned up. From what I understand this is far more complicated than opting into it.
