Can't get a response from a buyer

I listed some shirts for sale (4 to be exact), they were the exact same shirt except there were 4 different colors.  I wrote in the ad that once someone purchases a shirt they need to contact me to tell me what color they want.  I've sent inquiries to a person who bought 1 shirt asking him to tell me what color he wants.

I've not received a response.

I have to ship the package by August 20th (tomorrow).  So if I don't get a response from the buyer by then, should I just pick out a color myself and mail it?  I don't want my record to look as if I don't mail things out on time.  What should I do.

Unfortunately you set the listing up incorrectly.  This should have been a variation listing and not a multi quantity listing.  With a variation listing the buyer can select the color that they wanted.  With the multi quantity listing you actually listed four sets of four shirts.  The buyer expects four shirts to be sent to them.

Buyer might also think they get all 4 shirts or assume the first one for the color.

A variation listing would have prevented this, but that won't help now.

You are in a tough spot.  If you send the wrong item, buyer will be upset.  If you ship late, eBay will ding you for it.  May have to cancel for out of stock (another ding) and fix your listing to where it has only one shirt or is a variation of the four shirts so the buyers can pick the color they want.

Based on the title of this listing the buyer may think they are getting 4 shirts.

Unfortunately not everyone reads the description all the way to the very bottom.

I would keep trying to reach the customer.

Truly, I would be 50/50 on canceling or just picking a shirt.

The listing probably should have been set up with variations which would have let buyer select color.

Someone else will be along to give some advice.

Go with your gut.

Good luck. 🙂

Your buyer is going to be disappointed when they find out they only bought 1 shirt.

According to your title and photo, they get 4 shirts.

You need to set the listing up with variations so they can choose the color.

Have a great day.

Sadly I can go faster, but unable to use voice to text at the moment. In a public place.

They should have been listed as separate item's, Then there would be no confusion as to which color a buyer would receive, But it's to late for that now, But keep that in mind for future Listing's.

@blondiefrks

You have a listing for 4 Polo shirts. From what I see, if I ordered that, I would be getting four shirts for the price. Not one of a certain color. I think your buyer is confused and is going to open an INR claim

You set up your listing all wrong. You needed to do a variation listing and have a drop down menu so they could pick color.

The way you set it up looks like they get all 4 shirts for that price.

I'd either cancel as out of stock and take the ding or I'd send them all 4 shirts and end the listing.

Definitely end that listing now before you have another problem with a buyer.

I'd be shipping all 4.  The buyer is possibly under the assumption he bought a lot of 4 for 49.99 and is getting all the colors.  Is $36 worth it for you to get negative feedback and have other issues?  This was a mistake on your part.

Also, with an original quantity of 4, you are saying that you have 4 sets of 4 available. I would change that quantity to 0 until you get this ironed out. No pun intended.

I was going to say it was too late as they've made the sale but they still have 3 more listed as available, so that is a very important recommendation.

@blondiefrks As fern*wood said, please end the listing right away so that at most you have one disappointed buyer, not potentially 3 more.

Yes, a buyer would expect four shirts.  All you have at the bottom of your item description is, "If purchasing a polo please advise what color(s) you are purchasing." That's not nearly enough.
