Can negative feedback due to user negligence be disputed?

hello.

i sell computer parts. on most things i don't take returns due to paypal withholding fees and shipping rates going up.

someone bought a computer part without checking or even understanding compatibility with their system. they admitted this in a message to me. the form factor was in the title and in the description. part number and UPC were also listed. buy opened the item tried it and realized it doesn't fit. i denied the return to avoid taking a $40 shipping and fee hit, and ending up with an open box item that may have been misused or forced into somewhere it doesn't belong by the idiot buyer.

he left me negative feedback, my first one in my 2 years on ebay. can i dispute that as user error?

thanks

Re: Can negative feedback due to user negligence be disputed?

Nope, it's not disputable.

That said, had you accepted the return, since it was buyer's remorse, THEY would have had to pay return shipping...but you would still be stuck with the open box product...if they even returned it at all.

And your reply is perfect. It makes you look like a level headed seller and not a raging lunatic. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Can negative feedback due to user negligence be disputed?

I just read the feedback. I’d say it’s a grey area because of the buyers comment. Had the buyer not said “uncooperative seller” and “no returns allowed”, I’d say there was a chance of removal if you talked to the right CS agent. But with those additional comments, sorry I don’t think an agent will help you remove it.

i know that, but i still spent money on shipping, signature confirmation and insurance, an don top of that paypal fees are no longer refunded. i'd be out all of that, please would be forced to resell the item as used.

anyway, thanks for the help. i'll live with the - feedback. it didn't slow down my sales one bit so i'm not worried.

Re: Can negative feedback due to user negligence be disputed?

That's pretty sad that ebay doesn't protect sellers better than that. I just narrowly avoided a similar situation myself. Idiot buyer didn't bother to read the description at all, and I offer no returns. Just bit the bullet and paid for the return anyways to avoid the negative feedback. But I think at this point, negative feedback is inevitable if you consistently get bad buyers.

Re: Can negative feedback due to user negligence be disputed?

Ebay is absolutely pathetic in protecting Sellers from bogus negative feedback from buyers who "click at the last minute without reading the description" or other stupid acts that invoke buyer remorse.   It is unacceptable that we have to live with these stupid comments on our perfect scores, mine actually 15 years with 100% perfect feedback as a seller until some pathetic individual named yamahamopar440 who admitted when i met him didn't even read the description and then left bad feedback without even letting me know he had issues with his decision on the cheapest thing I've sold on Ebay in probably 10 years?  I would have actually bought the item back, no questions asked.  Instead I go from 15 years @ 100% to 97% this year.  And, as a buyer, i don't buy from anyone with less than 99% feedback.  Ebay is clearly loosing ground to FB Marketplace and other venues and they are accelerating the move of sellers by treating longtime members with 6 figure transaction histories like me with this absolutely pure stupidity.  I currently have 6 figures worth of inventory on Ebay - F that, I'm out as soon as these auctions end.  Permanently.  Never will return or buy again off this site that encourages Social Media **bleep**s who hide behind a cyberwall versus hard working Sellers like me and the honest Ebayers.  The good news I will leave with a moral compass intact, can not say the same for Ebay.
