How to remove voided USPS tracking number from order?

I shipped an order yesterday, and was confused at why the tracking information isn't updating in eBay. I then looked back at the USPS labels I had created, and noticed that the tracking number displayed by eBay is the one I voided! Not the second tracking number I generated with signature confirmation. I then clicked "Edit Tracking" on the listing, and found (1) that both the voided and the second, still-valid number were shown and (2) I could not in fact edit the tracking numbers so that the buyer would see the correct tracking information for their purchase.

Questions:

How do I remove the voided tracking number, so the buyer doesn't think I haven't even shipped their order yet? (It's not clear how they even view tracking for the second number, which eBay does know about.)

Why didn't eBay automatically remove the voided tracking number from the order? I literally have an email from eBay saying "Your USPS shipping label has been voided.", because I purchased and voided the label through eBay. Why is eBay, despite that, continuing to show the voided tracking number? That just ends up looking unprofessional even though I did everything right to correct a small and easy to make mistake when purchasing the first label.

The post office has to approve a voided label and you don't get the money back for a couple weeks to insure it hasn't been used. This is probably why ebay doesn't remove it as there could still be a chance it gets used. You cannot remove a tracking number from the transaction. I wouldn't worry about it as both will show to the buyer. You can also message the buyer about what happened and let them know which number to watch if you feel the need to.

ebay usually leaves both tracking #s on the purchase, but what irritates me is it never shows delivery when the actual tracking # does.

@bar-29368 got it right.

Yes, this is obviously just the way eBay works, but that doesn't mean this isn't a problem.

I voided the label. That means I'm telling eBay that I'm not using it, and the tracking number is no longer relevant. As the seller, it's my responsibility to ensure the details on the transaction are accurate, and yet, eBay chooses to make this impossible by, apparently, making it impossible for me to remove the invalid tracking informaiton.

How long it takes to receive a refund for the voided label is irrelevant, and the fact that I could choose to use the label equally so. If I did use the label, I would obviously not expect to receive a refund, and if for some reason I used the voided label to ship the order, it would be my problem that the tracking information shown on the order was not accurate.

As it stands, as @bar-29368 points out, eBay's decision here means that the tracking information displayed on the order is inaccurate, and there's nothing I seem to be able to do about it. That's pretty stupid.

In just a couple weeks of selling, I've already had to make one excuse for eBay simply failing to provide any information to sellers about how a particular listing option works (basically, I told someone that if they choose local pickup, I have no idea whether there's anything special they need to do to use the "payment on pickup" option I enabled on the listing), and have received two obvious scam attempts, one forcing me to re-list an auction, without even an option to report the buyers to eBay.

What is it eBay thinks we're paying them for, exactly?

Open the sales ticket from your Sold Items page by clicking on the dollar amount in the middle of the column. (The SALES TICKET - not the print label page)

To the right in the buyer's name etc block is a tracking number with an "edit" button next to it. Click the edit button. That will bring up a page with your tracking number(s). If there is more than one both will show.

Now it is an either/or choice. If the correct number is at the top you should see a "remove" button next to the one on the bottom.

If the correct number is on the bottom than simply overtype the incorrect number on the top with the lower number (actually copy and paste is easier).  Once you have done that, since the numbers are now the same, the bottom one should disappear. If it does not then click the "remove" button.

If there is only one number and you want to get rid of it simply highlight it and hit delete.

@richard1rst, I appreciate the detailed explanation, but I literally don't see the pages you're talking about. I see no references anywhere to something called a "sales ticket". I don't even have columns on my sold items page, and the dollar amounts definitely are not clickable.

What I do have on my sold items page are "view tracking" and "edit tracking" links on the listing. The "edit tracking" page very obviously does not have any way to remove tracking numbers. (It's a pretty simple page.) The only option is to add another number in addition to the two already there.

The good news is, the item did arrive, it was signed for, and it looks like everything's set. I'd believe that it was possible to remove tracking numbers on a previous iteration of eBay's UI (and I'd believe that said UI is even active for some users and still allows this), but there doesn't appear to be any way for me to do so.

Follows is a screen shot of the page I am talking about. It is on my seller hub page under "awaiting shipment"
