I sold a $1500.00 item and it was delivered Aug 24th to customer. I had listing as "no returns". Now customer says 1 month later that item is defective and they want to return it. Ebay is giving me 3 days to resolve "issue". I do have the option to reject the return, but what happens when I do that? Will ebay possibly give me a strike and rule in buyers favor? I have sent buyer messages attempting to resolve his problem, but I think the guy just wants to send it back no matter what...

"No returns" just means that the buyer has to lie and file SNAD. Good luck. You're gonna need it.
I'd never sell anything that expensive on eBay anymore.

So then paypal will come after me??

You can reject the return and the buyer will not be able to ask eBay to step in. Ebay won’t force a refund. If they paid with PayPal or a credit card then a PayPal dispute or chargeback are a possibility.

Not so if they're alleging that it's defective.

@softersilk Yes so. The item was delivered more than 30 days ago. The buyer can’t ask eBay to step in if the seller denies the return. The money back guarantee expired. Have you read the money back guarantee? It’s valid for 30 days after delivery.

People sell expensive stuff on eBay every single day. You know why? Not all buyers are crooks.

Personally I do 30 day returns, but f it's been more then 30 days, I would reject the return. He's had plenty of time to contact you. How do you know it could be defective from him handling it.

You can refuse returns, but not refunds.
However, with eBay, if the Dispute was opened more than 30 days after delivery, eBay will not force a refund.
However, if the buyer paid with Paypal, he has 180 days from Payment to open a Dispute there.
However, PP insists that the complaining buyer pay for the return.
Which must be tracked and Signture Confirmed. There is also a shipping deadline.
If the complainant does not Return the item, with Signture Confirmation of delivery, the seller is not forced to refund.
However, if the complainant's PP account is backed with a credit card, he can then go to the card for a chargeback.
However, while all cards are different, some have started tightening up on serial complainers.
If the chargeback is issued, try to get the item back before PP (which handled the cc payment) refunds.
Note that it is very likely that the value of the payment will be frozen in your PP account while all this gets sorted out.
Best wishes. And get the thing back for resale.

Yes they can if the buyer files a SNAD return before the time limit on the MBG expires. Plus you are required to pay the return shipping. Of course, if you do not comply, they will probably refund the buyer and allow them to keep the item. The refund would be at your expense and you will most likely receive a defect to boot.
Your no returns policy only applies to return requests for buyer's remorse reasons.
However, if the buyer failed to file the SNAD in a timely manner with eBay, they have up to 180 days to file one with PayPal if you used them for payment. Of course, you would not be required to pay the return shipping but you would still have to refund the purchase price and the original shipping.

If the complainant does not Return the item, with Signture Confirmation of delivery, the seller is not forced to refund.

That's only true for items over $750, anything less only needs delivery confirmation

I don't totally understand this. From your description it sounds like the buyer filed a standard SNAD return and its giving you the option to reject the return (I'm assuming in addition to accepting, and offering a partial or full refund and the buyer keeps the item). Doesn't this only happen when your listing is set to accept returns?
If you don't accept returns I'm assuming SNADs automatically go into your Resolution Center (with eBay not giving you any choice but to accept the return) vs in the returns details... am I right? Or is ebay giving you the choice solely because it has passed 30 days?
Btw, any time I get domestic return requests passed 30 days I always reject it on the grounds that it should be ample time for anyone to file a legitimate return by. I don't even know why eBay gives them the ability to file... that choice should disappear for them after the time limit. Again... eBay making us out to be the bad guy.

True-- but the OP said this was a $1500 sale.
I'm a great believer in Signture Confirmation-- although again we pay Canada Post $1.50 for it and I understand it is much more expensive in the USA.
We can also mark our parcels "No Safe Drop" at no charge, and the recipient has to pick up the parcel at the PO. I understand this is not an option with USPS?
