Can I post an outside link in an item description that is needed for the description?

My item will have lots of options to choose from, and I will have a gallery either on imgur.com or someone other place with a gallery that potential buyers can look at to see what the choices are. 

Would I be able to insert a link to imgur in the item description?

No.

First, outside links are not allowed.

Second, "Choice" listings are not allowed ... that is not how eBay works.

If your items are variations (color, size, etc) of the same basic item, you can create a "Variation" listing.

If they are all different items, you need to list them singly. Each with their own listing. If you have multiples of the item, you can list Muli-quantity.

No, you cannot advertise your gallery outside of ebay as Ebay wants the money from those items you sell. You need your own website and advertising to do that.

At this time a youtube link is permitted as long as it opens in a new window, the html language can be found on the web search( how to post youtube link to ebay. I have one item with this feature, see my bangle machine.

If there is no option for variations, then you must list the items separately. Each distinctive item in its own listing. If you have multiples of that distinct item, then you list it fixed price with the quantity that you have.

There is no mechanism for "choice" sales on eBay.

What are you selling?
