Can I call out a non paying bidder?

Had a non paying bidder recently and had to cancel the order and relist.  Can I call him out in my item description to warn other sellers to beware?  I have blocked him for my future auctions but wondered if EBAY allows you to "call them out" when re-listing.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

Instead of calling out the buyer, you should be concerned if you canceled the order correctly.  If you chose "buyer requested" without communication from the buyer asking to cancel or "out of stock", you will get a mega-defect on your account which could result in suspension of your selling privileges.

When a buyer doesn't pay or communicate, the last thing you should do is cancel.  Open the unpaid item dispute after 2 days and close it 4 days later to the minute.  Not only will you be giving the buyer a strike and block any feedback but you will be putting him closer to being blocked automatically from bidding or buying from any other sellers who have their automatic blocks in place.

You should also set this up in your buyer preferences.  I have mine at the strictest level of 2 unpaid strikes in 12 months.  It's kind of aggravating to the rest of us when sellers cancel instead of giving the buyer the strike he deserves.

As far as calling out the buyer?  Nope.  It does nothing for you.  Or any of us.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

Morning,

ABSOLUTELY NOT..not only that, it wouldn't do any good.

The only thing that would happen is many of your potential customers would hit the "Back Button" if they read this.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

Is there a reason you canceled instead of filing an unpaid item dispute, which would have been much more effective than canceling? IMO sellers who don't file UIDs  are a big part of the problem.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

He made up an excuse and then retracted that excuse and made up another.  Very obvious that his second excuse (although not the truth) would have had EBAY side with him.  Wasn't worth the hassel.  I always offer the 14 day return policy and he would have just returned it causing more hassel.   I won't call him out.  Will just let it go.  Thanks.

eBay doesn't side with anyone in an Unpaid Item Dispute.  The only responses available to the buyer in the UID are to either pay or not.  There is no mechanism for excuses or reasons.

Your only valid recourse for warning other sellers was to file the UID.

No, anything negative in a listing is a violation that you could be reported for.

You also are not allowed to post a negative feedback comment in the positive format for buyers; that, too, is a violation and that feedback could be removed.

No. You might consider listing your BuytNow item with the price that you want to get for it, and dump the Make Offer option. Then you can set the Immediate Payment Required option on your listing, and no one can yank it off the market without actually paying you for it first.

Only if you want a violation against your account.

IOW, No.

To what end? So another buyer can see? I highly doubt you're going to warn the people who need warning by calling them out in your listing...

The answer to your question, "Can I call out a non paying bidder?' is no.  Well actually, I believe you can, but may not.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

It could turn off potential bidders or buyers as well.

That would only hurt you, OP.

Re: Can I call out a non paying bidder?

I just had this happen. I checked the buyer's feedback. EBay allows no buyer neg feedback. Several sellers voiced their frustration by giving him pos feedback and slamming him with their comments. I will do the same!

In any auction house (aside from EBay) a non paying bidder is dealt with severely. It is the one no no where there is no excuse.

You can thank those numpty sellers for throwing you under the bus.

Had just two of them opened & closed UPI'S then smart sellers(like you?) who have their blocks in place would not even have encountered the non payer.

" I will do the same!"

Whoops...I made a mistake when I suggested you were smart.

Apart from earning you a polcy violation can you explain what effect your decision to leave a non payer another positive will have?

Be a smart seller & use the tools eBay provides.

You know those that you already know about...the UPI, the BBL, Setting Your Account Preferences, checking the feedback a buyer LEAVES for sellers...

"In any auction house (aside from EBay)"

eBay is not an "auction house".

eta...you've been here since '98...smh

@warzak Why not file an unpaid item dispute instead? And then follow the rules unlike those other sellers? Had those sellers who left him false positives followed the rules and filed unpaid item cases instead of violating policy (you aren’t allowed to leave false positives for buyers) he wouldn’t have been able to bid on your items & stiff you (assuming you have blocked bidders with 2 or more unpaid items in the last 12 months).
