Calculated shipping with first class combined weights won't work.

Calculated shipping with first class combined weights won't work.

Been trying to get this to work prior to the USPS changes on the 26th.

Set the combined shipping in preferences to combine with a discount and the price for shipping and First Class Package.

But when testing the weights are not combined and the package rate is charged and added together on each item.

Anyone gotten this to work, am i doing something wrong?

Are the items over 8 ounces? If which case the combined weight becomes over a pound and first class is not available.

I sell items at exactly 8 ounces and when someone buys 2 it comes in at 16 ounces and charges the correct 15.999 first class rate. But if they buy 3 it goes all wonkers.

The items are only 1 oz. each.

No matter how I set the calculated preferences, it still charges for each item.

I must be setting something wrong. Never used calculated shipping before.

So it's charging the min 4 oz weight for each instead of 1 x 3 = 3 oz?

I know it's not a solution entirely to this issue, but maybe you can choose and amount midway between highest and lowest and charge a flat rate for each?

Its been a while since I set up combined shipping which works best with Flat Rate shipping and not so great with First Class.

Anyway, is the discount for buying multiple items or is it for something else?  Did you try setting up combined shipping without the discount?  Also, did you try adding a $ amount to the postage for the second item?

If I recall correctly, there was mention of this issue in today's weekly chat discussion.  Apparently, the system is not functioning properly.

I can't figure it out either, I do 1st class flat rate shipping and .50 combine shipping, if i switch over to calculated shipping you have to do it by ounce's. Won't work because my items can weight 1 to 9 oz, if someone buys 2 (9 oz) items now its priority shipping instead of 12 oz 1st class, because you have to include package in the weight but not if I can ship the 2 items together.

Without a discount it just charges the calculated amount on each one. It also will only add a handling fee, if it is included in the listing, but not if added in preferences.

Flat rate has always worked.

This is a real problem with only 3 days to go. Will have to increase the flat rate price and charge every buyer like they were in zone 8.

Combined calculated shipping rule of the "combine all item weights and subtract an amount" variety?

Without any combined calculated shipping rules, the default is for multiple item weight to be added together.

With a "combine all item weights and subtract an amount" type of combined calculated shipping rule, First class pkg calculated rates work as expected.

There was an issue with handling fees not working at all in combined rule situations awhile back - no resolution and I didn't follow up (I don't use handling fees so don't care other than in an academic sense)

Side note: Be careful with combined calculated shipping rules - if you change the combined calculated rule type, it unchecks any existing ones from current active listings, and you have to go back and revise every listing that had the rule to re-enable the combined rule. At least it has done so for me every time I've played with it.

There was a couple of posts on the chat this week about calculated shipping not showing correctly for more than one item (still).

Interesting. I avoid the chats like the plague (blood pressure and I'd likely get vacationed quickly).

I have yet to actually see that happen or see any solid, clear evidence of it happening. I do see lots of posts about the calculator being broken because it isn't doing things that it never did, but some expect it to do.

Perhaps Trinton or one of the shipping team could show us how this IS supposed to be set up....  give an exact example with a 1 ounce item and multiple purchases
