I listed some CPAP accessories a while back and the listings were ended by eBay saying I couldn't list any items needing a prescription. I explained to the rep I called they don't need a prescription but that went nowhere. I also explained CPAP accessories were being sold in large numbers at that very moment on their site. And get this...there is a CATEGORY for CPAP accessories. I'm left really confused by all of this. Has anyone had this happen and is there any hope for me to sell my accessories again? Thanks. Kim

Everyone, you have it wrong.

You can sell non-prescription devices listed in the policy. Some types of devices listed do not require a prescription, those are ok. But prescription devices, and therefore, their accessories, aren't allowed.

There is a category for CB Linears and they're illegal. I think when many people type that in a title eventually a category populates for them.

The reason there are hundreds of them is because eBay can't keep up with taking them down. How long was yours up before they finally took it down?

It's like cop who can only pull over one car at a time for speeding. In the meantime many other cars are whizzing by above the speed limit.

Unless something has changed recently, CPAP machines can only be bought with a prescription in the US. There may be alternatives to CPAPs available OTC, but they wouldn't be the Class ll machines i am discussing and that i assume eBay is referencing in its policy.

In a nutshell—CPAPS are Class II medical devices requiring prescriptions for purchase. This is a result of the varying degrees of severity sleep apnea has between sufferers, so a prescription from a licensed physician determines what type of CPAP machine works best for the patient’s condition, as well as what pressure levels must be set for treatment.

In the United States, class II medical devices are regulated by the FDA under the authority of the Medical Device Amendments of 1976. (These amendments established a three-class system for medical devices based on the level of risk they pose to the user.)

I am not an “expert” by any means but a care-giver for an elderly relative over a number of years.

Thats apparently true about cpaps. However my comment is correct for the other devices.

It was just a few hours. My biggest beef was the double standard of banning my items yet having a catagory for the very same items. To me having a catagory for something that can’t be used leads a seller to believe his stuff is fine to sell.

Then contact Ebay and find out how you can become an approved seller of these items.

We know we can’t use eBay to sell CPAP and accessories. What has ANYONE learned about where/how we can sell CPAP?

I have a well running ResMed Airsense 10 with lo5 of new unopened accessories.

Anyone have any ideas how to best sell?

You actually can buy CPAP accessories most anywhere including on Amazon. There is no prescription required for masks, etc. just the machines. My daughter just bought a full face mask off Amazon with nothing required. I understand this is a grey area for eBay and it is much easier to ban the lot and not abide by real laws. That would require "thinking".

Unfortunately, the masks and accessories do not require a prescription, just the machine. But I understand the eBay policy which makes no sense as usual.
