I went back through my sales history and discovered that buyers who send buyers notes when buying are an issue 90% of the time. They always find a problem. Anyone else have this correlation? The second group of red flag buyers are those that message for a lower price. They are also never satisfied it seems. Ive begun just blocking both these types of buyers immediately

I've discovered that most of my competitors in my category (Automotive Service Manuals) don't respond to questions. I do. The most common question is "Is this the right book for my car?" Those other sellers are losing sales to me because I answer. I never accept an offer. My prices are fair and are backed up by statistics from Product Research (formerly Terrapeak). If someone is too cheap to pay a fair price I don't want to deal with them.

I haven't had the same experiences.

”I went back through my sales history and discovered that buyers who send buyers notes when buying are an issue 90% of the time…”
Did you mean buyers who send sellers notes, or something else?
”Ive begun just blocking both these types of buyers immediately.”
I do not block buyers for asking questions or making offers. I am here to sell and blocking those who show an interest would be in direct conflict with that goal.

Hi @rmv5555
All my listings end with "Questions welcome. Shipping is combined". I suppose it may to do with what one is selling. I answer all questions. I do not use the Offer process so any offers are simply messages to me. I might pursue some or politely decline others.
Your approach to block anyone who tries to communicate with you may work for what you sell.

Not at that high of a percentage but its likely 40%. People that ask me to ship an item out ASAP or make extra demands are normally an issue. Seems half the time they end up remorse returning the item. If someone asks me a question prior to making a purchase the first thing I do is look at feedback they've left. If I don't like what I see its an automatic block.

If they ask questions before bidding, I answer the question.
If they show some indication of insanity, I Block them, but otherwise I will answer even questions where the answer is in the Item Specifics or the Description.
If they make demands after purchase I do have a boilerplate response.
"I regret that I would not be able to (upgrade to overnight shipping/ship to your cousin in Latvia/ wrap your purchase in gold foil / promise that it will fit your cat). If you prefer, I can cancel the transaction ."
If they do not pay within the allowed 96 hours, I have my Seller Preferences set to automatically cancel the transaction and give them a Strike.
Never get into a conversation. Never explain your decision.

Anyone that sends me an offer is not worth having a conversation with. All my items are literally the lowest on ebay when i list them. So yeah ask me for a below lowest offering on ebay youre blocked.

Im done responding to any communication at this point. Of all platforms i sell in ebay buyers are the worst by far

You might want to remove Best Offer from the 2 listings that have it.

Your the one that set your pricing. If a buyer dare send you an offer, you block them! That is a very odd way to do business, but your right to do so. Lower your stress and stop entertaining offers.

In your Site Preferences, you can block all buyers from sending you messages unless you have a current transaction with them.

Most notes sent at time of purchase have been fine. Mostly thank you for selling, an occasional can you send ASAP or can you hold for a couple of days before sending.
As far as questions before purchase, kind of depends on the type of question and if the answer is already clearly stated in the item description: I prefer questions that aren't already answered in the description. I much prefer questions before the sale then after the sale.
Scary questions:
I am very picky with colors. Is your item dark black or pitch black?
I am very picky about smell. How would you describe the smell of your new in box sealed item from a smoke free environment?

Whether I sold on on eBay or in my real selling career of 41 years. Prospective buyers and customers will have questions. No big deal. Just answer straight up - don't do a CYA . Never took the time to calculate the % of bad eggs out there - but it wasn't too many out of 1665 item shipped to eBay buyers - mostly preowned items - men and women's clothing and footwear - higher end stuff = less than five fingers of dissatisfied anybodies (returns/refunds). Maybe I was just lucky IDK - but haven't hit the "big" lotto or big at the casino either. Maybe you should revisit those 90% bad experiences and see what you could have done better. Self evaluations is often hard to do because how we preserve ourselves maybe vastly different than others preserve us - and that is the reality. But you only can see your listing details and eBay messages back 90 days right??
