They've gotten you mixed up with another seller.......Kind thing to do is say you have no record of a sale to them, "you must have me mixed up with another seller"......
We want to KEEP buyers on the site......so treat them how you would wanted to be treated..........

So you ignore. And block them.

It is also possible they used a different I.D. or the OP is mixed up and didn't realize they sold the part to this person. Time will tell when the buyer gets an answer from the OP.

I wouldn't block someone for confusing you with another seller.
I would simply message them and clear it up.

Some people who buy stuff are confused and it's no wonder you see them claim stuff you tested doesn't work. It may not have fixed something they wrongly diagnosed, but that doesn't mean the part doesn't work.

Maybe Ebay confused buyer by displaying my image on google while linking image to some other seller’s store. Oh well. Messaged buyer and he didn’t respond.

You right but On the other hand do you want the buyer that confuses you with another seller and claims not as described and returns stuff he bought from another guy on ebay?
does he make so many purchases he can’t remember where he got it? Or there is so many guys working for him (dealership or work shop) and they have so much mess who does what and where they put it that he can’t get it right either?

this did come thru ebay messages and not your regular email right?
regular email, just delete. Ebay message , yep politely tell them they have the wrong seller.
I recently got a regular email supposedly from fedex cannot deliver something without signature and I was supposed to email back with my tracking number they gave. Problem was they were here that day, never said anything and I was talking to him. Instead of emailing back I went to the official fedex site and put the tracking number in, doesn't exist.
Yep, scam attempt, better luck next time. but how many would have just clicked the email link back to them thinking it was real?

If he didn't buy anything from you (per the OP) he can't return anything, unless he bought on another ID, and he'd have to use that ID to open a return.

we were talking about the reason for blocking. So inhawaii said he wouldn’t block and I said that I am not sure about that as I wouldn’t want to deal with buyer who is confused in the future for he may buy something from me and another different seller and be confused about that (reasons listed above). No he didn’t buy anything yet if he did I wouldn’t be able to block. I don’t know if I want to risk and have such a buyer in the future. 🤷 My decision to block may or not be good for other sellers.

@partfinds Gotcha!
If he makes you nervous, block. It's better to be proactive than reactive.

so what do you mean by proactive? Dealing with false returns? I did have 2 such returns where I got some other ebay seller’s items back and they were in defective condition and not relistable condition (lost items, shipping money snd had stress). Being proactive is blocking to me to avoid future problems.

I am not confused. I sell on 1 account. And don’t sell in such quantities that I am unable to track them. Buyer messaged through the active listing and not sold/ended. Also item he messaged through had nothing to do with the car he mentioned (there was different compatibility) which suggests that they go by recognizing image/picture and not specifics, title, description which mentions different car. They didn’t include any more details. This buyer seems to keep shopping by not reading descriptions and looking /comparing items to his own— he wouldn’t be message\ing through listing that had nothing to do with his car. Id]f he was looking to get help locating right item as he purchased wrong from someone else then he would state so or he would respond after I responded to his weird message. Do I want to not block such a confused buyer that doesn’t do diligent work or doesn’t communicate well? Am I the one confused?
maybe that is different seller messaging through his second account hoping that his message is scanned by ebay and picked on as problem and my sales are lowered.
