Did you mean:

Buyers have way to much power...

a BUYER should NOT be able to open a RETURN request PERIOD., if an item is listed as "FOR PARTS NOT WORKING" "NO RETURNS"

if you're buying an item as "FOR PARTS NOT WORKING" you're taking a risk that yeah these items might /probably do have some sort of issue ...

there is nothing else i could have done to make this situation any better...

i ended up contacting ebay and got them involved and they were going to FORCE me to return their money even though it was as accurate as i possibly could make it...

eventually the ebay employee ended up "EXTENDING A ONE TIME COURTESY" to me and made it sound like she was doing me a favor...  ofc i played along with what they said as it was being turned in my favor however this shouldn't be considered a COURTESY this should be just the right thing to do in a situation where oh NOOO... IM GONNA SAY  EBAY BAD WORDS.....
THE BUYER IS WRONG!

honestly calling it a ONE TIME COURTESY in this situation just kind of ticked me off as again there was nothing i could possibly have done to change the outcome every thing was listed as accurately as possible!

Your call, but you're going to continue to have problems like this.

Edit: and don't think for a second that showing off your sales numbers changes anything I said.  It's just bragging about something I disapprove of.

@legacylaptops

I get the frustration on this issue.

Back in the day, CS helped me out on a requested return for an item clearly described as "for parts, not working." Sounds like they don't do that anymore.

Back when sellers could call in, pre-March 2020, you could get a courtesy refund now and then. The word here on the boards was one a year out of eBay's purse. Don't know how accurate that was.

Of course the buyer got their refund as well. That is just how eBay does it. They try to not dissappoint the buyer whether they deserve it or absolutely do not deserve anything.

I got a courtesy in ~2019 and have not had to involve eBay since then aside from a getting a little help closing a return from the X team in 2021.

EBay won't do seller "courtesy" refunds on a continual basis. Even less now than back in 2019.

Re: Buyers have way to much power...

Most sellers are also buyers too.  As a buyer, I am glad that I have the power to open a return request.  As a seller, I am glad that my buyers know they have the power to open return requests because they probably wouldn't shop on ebay if they didn't.

Re: Buyers have way to much power...

@legacylaptops ,

That will never happen. The day eBay stops allowing buyers to open a case is when the number of chargeback requests from buyers will sky rocket. When a merchant in this case eBay since they are the merchant of record gets too many chargeback requests they will lose their ability to accept credit cards.

Visa, MC, and Amex want merchants to take care of dispute without buyers having to file charge back requests.
