Hi. Why is it when a buyer complains about the item they won, they get their money back even though as us sellers, we say no returns or refunds? Why is it that a buyer can retract a bid and it's ok? The bidder and buyer always win right? We do what we need to do and we lose

Yup. Welcome to selling. Your only relief is the blocked bidder list you can add any buyer to that gives you a headache.

well when you list on eBay YOU agree to the buyers guarantee no mater what your terms may be. There is no "no refunds" on eBay.

eBay seems to perceive that when a buyer leaves, then his sales leave with him - but when a seller leaves, his buyers will simply buy a similar item from a similar seller at a similar price. And I suspect their analysis of their vast history of transaction data shows this to be the case.
Sellers also seem to have demonstrated a willingness to continue selling despite having this happen. And again, I suspect their analysis shows this to be true.
Until this fundamental reality changes, eBay will continue to favor buyers over sellers.

SELLERS ARE BUYERS!!! we pay Ebay to sell here (+sellers buy items here, too.)
It's win win for Ebay to KEEP SELLERS here & happy because Ebay makes more money from a Seller+Buyer than just a non-selling buyer. right?!
Sellers spend the most time on Ebay = they look around more & buy (when they are selling especially) = keeps most of the money IN HOUSE/ ON Ebay = smarter to keep sellers HAPPY so they tell people how HAPPY they are selling and buying here = brings more customers who will sell AND BUY.
stomping on anyone who could be a potential customer in any way (Seller and or buyer) is stupid. period.

I suspect that eBay has the information necessary to determine whether the cost of losing a seller exceeds the cost of keeping a seller who repeatedly disappoints buyers. I suspect that your guess about it is motivated by your opinion of the practice and not a comprehensive view of the data.

How is fair for seller to offer a card that they don’t know is real when there are many known reprints for the card? For example 2003 Topps Lebron James cards you have sold. As a professional seller, I would get a card authenticated by someone such as PSA or BGS which is not hard to do if I had any doubts about the authenticity of a card instead put in the item description as “but it checks off many boxes as original” before I would list it.
It is because of stuff like this that the rules are tilted towards the buyer.

No; it's LOSE LOSE if you opt to favor Sellers over Buyers. Retail sales, which is EXACTLY what this is, cannot favor sellers over buyers. Like a Brick & Mortar store, would you allow your stores to put up a poster of bad buyers in the window? (neg feedback) would you tell a buyer, who trusted you to sell them an item they could return without grief if they wanted? (no returns)

It's not even close to being a brick and morter store.
So many things are different.
Let's use Walmart as an example.
Walmart is the seller we are the buyers.
Ebay is neither the seller or the buyer.
Not saying one should be favored over the other, but
ebay is over seeing this as a middle man, so there should be
NO favortism, and as every seller knows and the scammers know,
ebay favors one over the other. This is a fact.
If a shoplifter steals from a store and is caught,
there mugshot is shown as public record.
So, if a scammer is caught they need to be shown.
there needs to be more transparency in the system.
Also back to my walmart example, they sell new items only
and ebay sellers sell many used items.
Walmart doesn't allow abuse of returns but ebay does.
If ebay is going to oversee all these transactions then
they to keep a neutral view of it. They don't as it is now.
And when walmart gives out a refund they expect the item returned to them.
On ebay, sometimes ebay says, the person doesn't have to return the item.
And there is many more examples as well. it's just not the same a brick and morter store, nor
is it any where near what a REAL auction does.
Real auctions are AS-IS no returns. The way it should be.
On ebay you can open a hundred packs of vintage basketball cards
looking for a rookie Jordan card, and if you don't find one, you can
request a free return......Walmart won't do that, nor will any Card store do that.

Walmart allows people to sell on their platform. Not auctions, but just straight sales. People who sell there will have to follow Walmart protocols and accepts returns at the will of the buyer. If they do not, Walmart will step in just like eBay and force a return.

The distinction lies in the difference between MIS and IT.

Stating no refunds or returns on a listing means nothing.
eBay has 30 day MBG
Buyers always have the upper hand no matter where you sell, online or brick and mortar

Very true. I am surprised, minus certain categories, that e-bay still even allows it. It is not enforceable and that is not *new. We offer 30 day free returns - mostly as I do not wish to wrangle with the Buyer over it and we want our item back. For what we sell, we only see about a dozen a year - but we do not sell in clothing or shoes, electronics, etc where the return ratios are typically higher.

What you describe is an unholy alliance between salespeople and IT; one in which operations and administrative employees - the severed conscience - are marginalized.

I would never presume to know how eBay would make a policy decision like that, or who might be involved.
Clearly you seem to have a guess.
