Buyers are stating Missing Packages and or missing items

In the past 6 weeks -- I have lost about $200.  A missing package sent to France, which ebay refused to assist me with. A bubble envelope ripprd open and delivered that way to a buyer on the west coast.  Ebay is no help for the seller.  I sent the envelope to Calif, it was delivered but someone ( a postal employee I suspect) ripped it open and sole my merchandise.  This is not my fault -- yet I had to refund the buyer.  My $130 France Priority International package is missing -- again not my fault. French PO attempted delivery - nobody home.  Supposedly sending package back to me -- yeah, and your check is in the mail.  Ebay really screwing over its sellers.  I have been selling on ebay for 15 yrs. NOT COOL

Did you lose $200 in income, but realized profit from selling on eBay during that 6 week period ?

If you shipped Priority Mail, it's instant insurance coverage with the USPS.  I just received a check (surprise!) from the USPS for an insurance claim.

the buyer was refunded their money and I filed the insurance claim.  First I filed missing mail report.  Waited a few weeks.  Package never appeared, was never delivered.  I suspect theft by the USPS or someone else.

Also, you may want to be careful shipping overseas.  I don't know what you sell, but from reading the boards, there are a lot of overseas scammers who claim they didn't get their package.

By help, I presume you think Ebay should refund you or not refund the buyer?   It isn't "your" fault that the shipping service screwed up........how is it "ebay's" fault?  Ebay doesn't/can't assess the risks of  delivery, what/how/what, if any insurance you have or buy.....that's up to the seller to handle according to his risk level....  Neither can they file insurance claims, again that's up to the seller.....

Why would a buyer buy  if they aren't guaranteed the item or their money back if the item isn't delivered?  That's been a standard in mail order since it began..........again, part of the risk a seller takes in selling "on line"....

The delivery risks in the last few months has been much greater than normal.......again, something sellers have had to recognize and handle their own way.....not to ship at all, not to ship to certain areas at certain times, etc.

As to the losses......I presume you are stating the full sold price as a loss.......I look at losses as what it cost me to acquire the item, so losses are much less in that perspective.......  If I break an item worth $200, but it only cost me $2......it's a lot easier to bear.  If the item is sold and paid for, I can deduct the full price off income tax reports.

No one likes losses, especially as a small seller:  every sale matters.  But losses will happen to all of us....

just my thoughts
