Buyers/Sellers Using Profanity

Just curious if any other sellers and or buyers have ever gotten messages from a buyer/seller and laced with profanity?

We seem to have one and after many calls the CS (Asia) found it's not any violation even though Ebay has a profanity policy. Never did get a US based CS rep even tried different times during the day.

One CS said he would give the buyer a warning and if it happened again to call back. Well within 3 hours it happened again.

Called back and after many minutes of figuring out the CS was not going to provide any help.

So I am just curious if it's fiar game to use profanity towards a seller and get away with it?

Is it name-calling, or plain profanity? The former shouldn't be allowed, but I, personally, let the other slide, as I've been known to pepper conversations IRL with several bleep-able words.

Only happened to me once.

I deleted & blocked.

I never waste my time calling eBay or posting about something trivial.

Then again I do own a pub & profanity is the only vocabulary some people have...lol

Well, you might find yourself blocked - and if they have more than one ID or a tight circle of eBay friends, the block might be more than you anticipated.

But no, there's nothing stopping you.

You would no shot at getting something you needed from me if you came at me swearing.  If a seller and buyer are throwing nasty words at eachother, there's a problem with both parties.

I am curious if calling buyers lazy is also considered a violation. Many times when customers get called names and have been involved in bad customer service it results in profanity from the buyer.

As a buyer and seller, I've never received any profanity laced messages. I've received a few angry ones

from buyers with no cursing though. Ebay expects buyers and sellers to be respectful towards one another. Usually, ebay will not follow up and won't do anything about it, as you found out. Is it fair game to use profanity towards a seller? Morally, it isn't. Do they get away with it? Apparently, they do.

What you can do is put the buyer on your BBL and prevent them from contacting you.

well , did you delete it and simple delete anything that comes in?

no they are suppose to, but not a whole lot will happen..just delete the message...and/or don't deal with them ..except via a case through ebay...

I don't get offended by vulgar language, because I am a perfect lady and don't know what the words mean. Woman Wink

I was eavesdropping on a couple of carpenters at lunch today.

Most of their conversation was about work and polite, but then they got to talking about a guy at the lake who had posted the shoreline with No Trespassing signs. Vocabulary got colourful.

But they weren't shouting, just laughing at the guy's twittishness.

It's daily conversation.

If you are offended, do NOT respond.

Delete and Block.

Yeah, that's over the top, and I'd report it, as well.

 I'd report it, as well.

Messages received via the ebay message system no longer have a "report" feature.  One could surmise that ebay does not care.

Thank goodness, I haven't & I have been on here since before 2002. This is my second account. But, I have received a threat in a kind of way I guess. I had one buyer tell me "I'm going to enjoy bidding and winning your listings then leaving you bad feedback. I'll have everyone I know do it too." It never happened though.

What do you do in real life?........heaven knows, profanity is certainly in common usuage today........

Some things we need to learn to walk away from and just ignore.......

Here's something to chew on...

I actually feel more at ease when someone uses profanity in conversation, as I do it often.  Just had a conversation with a buyer from Florida who said it was "raining like (**bleep**)" where she is.  I didn't respond in kind, but it made her seem more "real" to me, you know?

And before I hear that using profanity is a sign of a lazy mind?  If it is or isn't, I have a genius-level IQ, so I don't really care.  *LMAO*
