Buyers/Sellers Using Profanity

Just curious if any other sellers and or buyers have ever gotten messages from a buyer/seller and laced with profanity?

We seem to have one and after many calls the CS (Asia) found it's not any violation even though Ebay has a profanity policy. Never did get a US based CS rep even tried different times during the day.

One CS said he would give the buyer a warning and if it happened again to call back. Well within 3 hours it happened again.

Called back and after many minutes of figuring out the CS was not going to provide any help.

So I am just curious if it's fiar game to use profanity towards a seller and get away with it?

Re: Buyers/Sellers Using Profanity

Years ago, PayPal had a problem with one of my international buyer's payment and address.  LSS, after a hold and then finally a forced refund back to the credit card the buyer used, PayPal informed me that they wouldn't accept another payment from this particular buyer.  As the package had already been shipped by Fed Ex, I had to do a recall on it and get it shipped back to me instead of continuing on to the buyer's friend (USA address).

During this time, I got an email from the buyer laced with the F - bomb and a few other cuss words that I've since long forgotten.

My solution was that I responded professionally, letting him know that I would not tolerate the profanity and that any future use of such words would cause me to cancel the transaction.  I got an apology from the buyer.  We worked out an alternate payment source (which was allowed back then) and the transaction went smoothly after that.

Re: Buyers/Sellers Using Profanity

I had this experience, except as a buyer.

I saw a listing for an item I was interested in and it seemed that there was damage on it in the pictures, but it was unclear, so I asked the seller if the damage I saw was there.

Seller messaged back that there was no damage, and so I bought.

Item came with the very damage I asked about.  I messaged the seller, who said she didn't check.  I said, you didn't check after I asked you about it?  I'm sorry but that is not my fault.

I asked about a return, not as described, seller pays return shipping.  Seller said she would accept a return, I pay shipping, and she would refund IF it was her fault!  I opened a case as I had already established it was her fault, and I no longer trusted her.

Then I received 10-12 profanity laced messages overnight, received the next AM, the least of which said F            YOU.

I was livid and called Customer Service, had them read the emails, and asked they make it VERY clear to the seller that this is NOT acceptable and she is not to contact me again!

I wasn't the first rodeo like this that seller had, and sometime later after more issues, the seller went NARU.

There is no excuse for vulgarity, though, from either a buyer or a seller.

Sorry this happened to you.

Re: Buyers/Sellers Using Profanity

It's said that you have the best chance of getting a US rep if you call around 9-10 o'clock time in UTAH or CA.

Sometimes I think if you call several times and get off shore reps, your next call will be routed to a US rep, but that is just a theory and not necessarily true.
