I really don't blame them, eBay made it almost impossible to read the descriptions with their promos, why can't they just show the item and the description all together rather than throwing all those annoying items in your face in the middle, I think most people leave when they start to see other items thinking there is no more info on the product, or they just buy without reading since the description is hidden and buried between ads.
Merry Christmas eBay, hope the new year brings you some sense.

It's been a real pain and getting worse, tired of answering questions that are in the description. If ebay wants to flood our listings, put them all at the bottom.

You're probably working on a desktop PC.
The rest of the world are using cellphones. Can only pack so much information into that small space. eBay would need get away from all HTML templating throwing many a logical storefront of large vendors into literal chaos.
How do you fit your watch description for example along with photo, price, shipping, shipping regions, feedback info, on and on and on into a space less than the size of 3x5 index card?
Not to mention many folks adjust the screen font-sizing and or complete screen scaling on their phones. Its the realm where UPC's now being replaced by QR codes help towards databases as index keys to pull up qualified descriptions. Works much better because then "fly pages" (info filled in "on the fly") from the database can be customized to product types. A Fly Page for a video game is quite different than thay of a watch or clothing or a phone, stereo receiver or Hot Wheels car.
Sellers dont care take the time fill in product detail data beetchin' about listing time, then yell about views where that qualifying data is important to search engines. Unless eBay constrains how people list and I do mean strictly there are no simple solutions. Amazon requires you have a UPC or you have to apply for an exemption last I knew... That's going to become considerably more difficult with QR codes which are actively replacing UPC and who knows how eBay handle that?
That which seems easy to a single individual seller in the case of these forums is usually rather complex and they just dont care about that. They want what THEY want. It's one reason I'd not blame eBay at all to fallback to the traditional B2C bigtime auction venues that existed. There was no variances, if a seller is approved to sell, here's the requirements, meet them or that item cant be sold here.

Two minutes ago I had to cancel a order. "Ordered by mistake."
I blame the buyer, not ebay.
How do you find a item, enter a quantity and purchase it "by mistake"???

Only many people use both and a lot of real work is still done on the desktops/laptops. I would say it's almost as big a mess in the web app as the mobile app. 😒 eBay laid a big goose egg with that turkey of an 'innovation.'

Good for you, my buyer stated they did not read the description, did your buyer state the same?

I would think the buyer had to make SOME kind of effort to get my listing to appear on his/her screen.
In 20+ years I've never looked at a item, made a conscious decision and go through the motions to buy it ... by mistake!

Wait, what? Didn't you just admit earlier today that you bought a bunch of gummy pickles by mistake?

I didn't buy them by mistake. I bought them on purpose ... then changed my mind.
If my last cancellation, "changed my mind" I could understand, "bought by mistake" I don't understand.
I think the only way it could truly be a "mistake" is if you were sleep-shopping. 😉

New business concept ... design, develop, produce and sell breathalyzers that connect to your computer. Can't shop online w/o blowing first. Prevents drunk shopping.
Anyone in?
