I have a buyer that wants to come by my location to check out item first. Communicating through eBay messaging Ebay is saying not to exchange location info or phone numbers.

There are items sold on eBay as 'pick up only'...so I don't think it's a big deal if someone wants to look at the item first...your phone number is already listed on eBay.
If the seller is honest and the buyer is honest and it's done during daylight hoursI don't see the problem.
It also depends what the buyer wants to see as well...we have garage sales, rummage sales and outdoor sales as well.

You can't exchange info until the buyer commits to purchasing, it doesn't matter if Pick Up only or Pick Up with shipping options.
IF the buyer could buy without paying then you could exchange info to facilitate the pick up and then if they decide they don't want it you cancel.
Of course in many cases eBay will force the buyer to pay upfront so they would have to pay but you could cancel if they come and look but decide they don't want it.

Realistically, you can't legally exchange info...not sure if 100% buyers do that on eBay though...LOL.

@12345jamesstamps It is? Where? for everyone to see even those that haven't bought yet? (I can see buyers phone # for a few days after a purchase, after a week or so it goes byebye)

Probably the pinball machine, right?
Sell them "20 minutes of play on my pinball machine" for $1 pickup only, then they can make the decision about the machine.

So much easier to tell the buyer they need to buy it first, then they can come and look, then if they want you to cancel you can.

"legally" if may be eBay policy but where did you find a law that says it is illegal to exchange info? Never have seen or heard of it.

Ingenious.
That's what I would do.

I don't know how you got the word "legally" from me, I never used that term.

'You can't exchange info. until the buyer commits to purchasing'...per your comment.
What does that mean then?...
'term'..."means a phase used to describe a thing or to express a concept"...

Whatever you choose @therainbowpenny , if you do decide for local pickup, make sure your listing offers that so you can use the QR Code to confirm pickup. I have not looked at your listing so just a heads up.

I have had this happen occasionally I just tell them buy it, come and look at it and if youdo not like it we can cancel it
