A buyer bought 4 items last week. She asked me to do a buy it now on an item because she didn't want to wait. I made it a buy it now and someone else scooped it up before her. That still left her with 4 items she won in auction. After I combined shipping and messaged her the invoice, she then asked for a lower shipping cost. I played around with different packaging and came up with a very reasonable cheaper cost. Then I re invoiced her. I messaged her a few days later saying I would love to ship this but I have not heard from you. Today I opened unpaid item case and she responded that she can now not afford any of the items and wants me to cancel the transaction.
I see from my research I can't do that beause I already opened the case. Also I don't want to get stuck with final value fees on the 4 items. Any way to cancel the case and retain my fees and relist? I think from what I have read that I have to let the case go on and then it will close. That way I can get my fees cancelled and relist, correct?

"After opening a case, the buyer has 4 days to respond or pay for the item. On the 5th day, you can close the case by going to the Resolution Center and selecting Receive fee credit, then Close case on the following page. Under Have you received payment from the buyer?, select No. The unpaid item is then recorded on the buyer’s account, the final value fee will be credited back to you, and you can relist the item."

Also notice in the link that if you do nothing and let the case close on its own (after 36 days) you lose your Final Value Fees.
"It’s important to close out any unpaid item cases. If you don’t close an unpaid item case within 36 days, we’ll close it for you, but you won’t be eligible for a final value fee credit"

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to cancel an order if the buyer has already opened an “item not received” case or if the seller has opened an “unpaid item” case.
Tell her that because of the UPI cases are active, eBay will not allow you to cancel the orders, the best thing to do is to (very politely) tell the seller that eBay has already charged your account for the sale of these items and that the only way to get your fees returned to you, is to let the UPI process take it's course and the cases will close automatically. (Do not mention the UPI strikes against her account or she may purchase the items with the intent on sending them all back at your expense.)
Thank her for understanding and that she is in no way obligated to purchase them from you...mainly for the reason that I have stated above.
Good luck.
OOPS! Good point that @wesk_36 said. Close the cases on the 4th day.
