I have a buyer that is new to ebay and has a zero feedback. He has messaged me and has asked me to ship the item to him prior to paying so that he can decide if the item is authentic or not. Its a belt buckle and there is no COA with it nor was I claiming authenticity or not. I was not contacted by VERO as it being fake. I am wary of this buyer. Is it against ebay policy for a buyer to ask a seller to do this and therefore should I alert ebay? I am sure that there will be a problem with this buyer but I can't cancel the transaction without being dinged. How should I handle it?

Has anybody every reported a buyer to ebay and did ebay do anything about it?
LOL. I think it is just something we do for the fun of it most of the time. Granted even if eBay were to do anything you would never know.

Hi, in a case like this, a seller normally opens an Unpaid Item Dispute. You can open it two days after the purchase is made. Then the buyer has four days to respond.
It is not against any eBay policy for a buyer to make a stupid request. So far, there is nothing to report him for. If you feel strongly that the situation is untenable, then take the cancellation defect and be careful not to get more than two in a calendar year. Good luck.

Open an unpaid item case and wait it out. If the buyer doesn't have funds by when it times out, relist it.
The buyer will take an unpaid item hit and it might protect all of us other sellers later. Thanks!

No. EBay doesn't do anything to the buyers.

Wait 4 days then file unpaid item dispute. Nobody ships ANYTHING until the buyer pays.

Notwithstanding the buyer's inappropriate request, you really need to do due diligence on that belt buckle before you relist it.
Sellers can't be silent on the question of authenticity or disavow knowledge. Counterfeits aren't allowed, so research your buckle and find out if its authentic.

If you are referring to the Hall of Fame Buckle, it is a real belt buckle, that's it. It does not say it is an authentic Wrestling Award Belt Buckle, for all we know it is referring to you, maybe you think you are worthy of that title. It is obviously a flea market cheaply produced buckle. Just look at the craftsmanship on the back and the lack of makers marks. It is what it is a buckle, I have a Pepsi shirt, that does not mean they made it nor that I am thier biggest fan. Do not ship it, cancel the order after not receiving payment, end of story.

Do not move without money, period. I sure hope you have blocked this 'buyer'.

I agree. And not worth $2 never mind $49
If the buyer pays for it and the seller ships, it'll be coming back on the seller's dime.

You own the item and a buyer can ask you anything. You can say yes or no. Worse thing that can happen you lose the item and the money involved. There are worse things life. You can also have a cool deal , sell the item and get great feedback. You can say no and block the buyer, it is your business.
