Buyer wanted return after claim didn’t work

I had an issue the past few days buyer claimed item didn’t work and wanted  money back after explaining to the that they needed to turn it on they contacted me and said it played the wrong song was a music box and other listings  identical to mine play the same song I ended up giving the refund cause I didn’t want to hassle but I feel I should have contested their claim

Take the return and move on and resell to someone else.  There will always be things we can contest, issues we have one way or the other...but when selling, returns are all a part of the process, you just need to have your present and future costs account for it.

Understood. Were it me, I'd have given the refund after I received the item back. No contest needed. But that's just me...

"Played the wrong song"? What were they expecting it to play?!

@therealnuggetman

Even if your listings say "no returns", this is meaningless because eBay's Money Back Guarantee always overrides a seller's terms.  And if you ignore or try to fight a "not as described" claim, the buyer can ask eBay to step in and eBay will force a refund from you, let the buyer keep the item, and give you a defect.

If your buyer filed a "not as described" claim, you have two choices: accept the return, issue a return label for the return, wait for the item to be returned to you, and when you receive it back, issue a refund; or you can just issue a refund and let the buyer keep the item.   Most likely, your buyer claimed it plays the wrong song so he could use the "not as described" reason for return.  (Buyers do lie sometimes to get to return an item.)

The best thing you can do if you get a "not as described" claim is to accept it, get the item back, and resell it.

And the faster and more cooperative you are about the (possibly false )claim, the more likely you are to get something back that is saleable.
