Buyer tried to scam me, when I cancel order it sends request to buyer?!?

The buyer sent an offer for more than I listed it for and as foolish as it was I accepted. Then they texted me (idk how they got my number) and asked for my paypal email so they can send the payment. I told them I only work through eBay and to message me there if they had a problem sending the paymemt and sure enough, no response nor payment. So I went on the app to cancel the order and said this: “This case has been opened by the seller with the following reason: Buyer's payment hasn't been received or hasn't cleared. Additional information provided by the seller: Texted me asking for my paypal email to send payment. When told I only deal through eBay’s website, never responded nor paid.” Now I want to cancel before they pay for my safety, yet the buyer has to approve my case?!? Get it together eBay, I’m not immune to every trick in the book they have. Someone please tell me where I should go from here. Thanks

The buyer tried to scam you.

Good for you for catching it.

Wait 2 days, send non pay, and 4 days later close it.

Be sure to block him.

I'm not quite clear on how the events transpired or what you mean by "the buyer has to approve my case."

I suspect you filed an Unpaid Item claim. If that is the case, the buyer has an opportunity to pay for the item.

Here's how Unpaid Item cases work:

If that's not what you filed, perhaps you could clarify exactly what happened?

That’s a shame that it’s a process to cancel. I needed to sell that ASAP. Whatever though, thanks.

Re: Buyer tried to scam me, when I cancel order it sends request to buyer?!?

You really shouldn't have canceled.  Your scamer would never pay.  The whole point was to get your paypal address so they can send you a You've got money now ship it quick and it will be deposited the minute you enter tracking  official looking email that many sellers fall for and ship the unpaid for item to them.  When you showed that you wouldn't fall for it, they moved on.  They will not put up money for their type of scam.

Cancels put flags on your selling account and can potentially get you defects that can and will cost you later.  If you file unpaid on the buyer, and follow it through to the end and get it closed unpaid - all the seller can use that unpaid dispute to block that buyer as sellers can block for 2 unpaids.

Now, you should read my signature line and take it to heart and get a lot more feedback before you list something worth over $25 on ebay.  Because the next professional scammer may pull something you will not be able to defend against.

If it's that game bundle, know that games and game systems are in the top 5 scamed categories on ebay.  With your low feedback, your listing is just chum in shark infested water.
