Hello all, I have a bit of an issue. Tonight I sold a $200 lego set. As I sometimes do with a sale this large, I checked the buyers feedback ratings before I printed the shipping label. This person is a seller themselves, with many positives feedbacks, but what I noticed is that when they are a buyer, they leave negative feedback for nearly every purchase. This makes me nervous, as I value my good feedback rating. Can I cancel the sale? Should I? Is it even ethical to do so? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

How many negatives vs. how many purchases? IMHO without more context it is hard to comment.

Ship as you would for any other buyer. Report the buyer no matter what. This is an abuse of the eBay system. More sellers need to report this behavior. Good luck!

I suspect the Buyer requests a full or partial refund for every item he receives and when the seller doesn't play his game and says "Return for refund"...he drops a Negative instead of filing a return.
Point is, he has no intention of returning anything...so even if only half the sellers give in full or partial refunds, he wins either way.
This is just a guess of course...

every seller eventually gets negative feedbacks. You can't cancel or you will pay fees and get defect. Would just ignore it as most buyer don't pay attention anyway. You could leave a response of buyer has history of leaving such feedback for other sellers but I wouldn't as the buyer knows they irritated you.

Exactly, both my negatives are like that.
I don't get free item? HAVE A NEGATIVE.

I don't ship to sellers that have that type of feedback. I cancel the sale and block the buyer. I also contact eBay and tell them why I am cancelling the sale.

Not a wise choice.
I wish I could've canceled some sales but I know ebay takes a pretty dim view of that practice.

Yup...that's definitely not right.
Also, Ebay allows lies in the Negs given so people are allowed to say anything they want...fact or fiction.
Not standing up for the honest people here certainly makes ebay look shady.

No they do not. I don't have any trouble with eBay with this. They state that I have the right to sell to whom I choose.

Since he's a seller himself, maybe the negative feedbacks are an attempt to tarnish the reputation of his competitors.

If they sell anything in the toy category, any negative feedback can be removed. Since they sell they can not leave negative feedback for any kind of competition

Depends what reason you use for the cancellation, if you lie and say its a problem with buyers address, then you wont receive a defect. And the telephone csr's will tell you what you want to hear, to get on to the next call quickly.

@brickbonestoys : This thread from October of 2021 has recently been dredged up again, so I might as well ask you here if you have any updates on what happened (or did not happen) with your possibly-problem buyer of your $200 Lego set. Did he try to open a dispute, or did the sale go okay?

Buy something from him. Do the same.
