I have a buyer that purchased an item from me, then requested a refund from Ebay stating didn't meet description. The description came directly from the manufacturer which described it 100% correctly. The buyer has not contacted me at all. So, I sent her an message though Ebay, stating when she returned the item, I would gladly refund her. I am hoping she will return the product that was sold to her by me and not something else. I have not received the tracking number where it has been mailed it yet. But I know they have 5 days to ship it. Can I block them from buying from me again now, or do I wait until the transaction is completed. And, can they leave negative feedback? If I missed a stain or something, I would take full responsibility for this transaction, but the buyer is not telling the truth about the product. Not sure if buyer as buyer remorse or what???
I sold on here 10 years ago and gave it up because of having kids. They are all grown and I recently got furloughed so I decided to start selling again. I enjoy it selling on Ebay, but not the scammers.
Please help me with some answers!
Thanks!
Nancy

Not anymore, Ebay changed this not so long ago, buyers have an extended time to ship the item back to seller, can't remember exactly what it is now but the total was something like 20 some days as weekends obviously don't count as business days. I wouldn't block them until the item is returned or ebay steps in and rules on the matter.

One needs to remember that when selling on eBay, they are selling to a different metric of buyers. When someone purchases an item on eBay, they have a go-between (that being eBay itself) which will go to bat for them, on the simplest of whims. One may purchase something directly from the manufacturer, which isn't quite 100% up to what they were expecting, but may just keep the item and live with it. But with ebay making a Fail-Safe return so easy, it makes the effort much simpler. And if a buyer feels they may try to go for the *get their money back and still keep the item* gambit, well then.... there you have it. A totally different rule book for purchasing and it is 99% in favor of the buyer. For them, a win-win. That's just the way it is.

It may be the item was damaged in transit, and that would be a SNAD case without the description being wrong in some way. What do the case notes say the reason for the SNAD claim is?
You noted the buyer has 5 days to return the item. That has been changed to 21 days. Due to the slowed shipping by carriers all over the world as a result of the pandemic, eBay has set up temporary extensions for the return and MBG Policies.
See below
As for feedback, if eBay finds for the seller in the case, feedback is removed or blocked. But you have already approved the return, so a determination by eBay is not necessary and feedback can be left by both parties.
Things on eBay have changed in the last ten years since you sold on the platform. You may be subjected to “new” seller limits on your account and /or PayPal holds on your funds. But if so, your previous experience should help carry you thru the learning curve. Spend a little time reading the forum and the policy pages. Good luck to you in your renewed eBay career.

Nothing to do with the pandemic it was actually put into effect couple months before covid-19 happened

If it was a used item the odds of it being described 100% correctly are slim. Not many used items are in perfect new condition therefore any wear at all would not be 100% accurate. Always write your own description in detail and list all flaws.
