Had a buyer return a defective item and just received it today. Had a quick look and proceeded to refund the buyer. However, upon closer inspection of the unit, it appears that it was a same model unit, but not the one we sent that got returned. It's not a serialized unit so I'm relying on different markings and label placements on the unit. Perhaps I was a little too quick on pressing the refund button, but I suppose there isn't much recourse other than reporting the buyer after the fact?

nope nothing you can do but report the buyer. You would have had to refund no matter what you received back....even a box of rocks.

If you accepted 30 day returns, you could deduct some from the refund.

Reported and moved on for now. I'll hold onto the item sent back in case eBay follows up and wants pictures.
