Buyer requests INR 6 weeks after ship

I have a buyer requesting a refund for an INR from a sale date of August 14th. The order for this came late in the day and I wanted to get it out quickly so I sent it with out tracking. Today was buyers first contact about a possible INR.

Do I have to honor this?

What does getting it out quickly have to do with not getting tracking?

If you don't have tracking the INR will prevail regardless of whether the buyer actually got it or not, as you have no way of proving it.

Not sure how this would work since it's well past eBay's 30 day MBG.

You have to respond to an INR claim. Simply enter your tracking info into the case notes. Good luck.

The INR is 30 days past the last estimated delivery date.

Without tracking you will lose.

As long as the buyer files a case if you can respond with the tracking you will win if it shows delivered.

I had two INR and i had tracking for both. I provided tracking and i had filed for a lost package on one before the buyer filed. They were both closed by the buyers in my favor. The one finally showed up delivered. The other had confirmed delivery and was closed by the buyer. If you do not have tracking you will lose.

@argentphil

The buyer has 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date that eBay provided when the buyer purchased to be able to file a INR case.

Is the buyer inquiring about this INR thru eBay messages or were they able to actually file a case?

Item not received...will have to refund them a day before case gets escalated by buyer. Otherwise, eBay will refund buyer and you get a demerit. Could have been address not correctly written or incorrect postage place on package. Any number of things could have happened. I don't do tracking for inexpensive items as well. I don't really have lost items in the mail. Not sure if it was sent International or domestic.

If it went domestic it is lost. If it went International it might still be on its way....just taking a long time.

I would try to work it out with the buyer with a businesslike polite email. If no response just refund them.

An INR on a package with no tracking?

Whoops.

Unfortunately... not if, but when eBay asks you to submit the tracking info and you can not, they will almost always find in the buyer's favor.

Oh...One thing to be careful of and may save you... If the buyer hasn't opened a claim yet, then WAIT. Don't refund yet... If you refund outside of the case and the package arrives, you will be out your money and the item. Let the case open and transpire. Unfortunately, again, at that point you will likely forfeit your item and money due to not having proof of shipment through tracking... But at least you will have tried all you can do.

Next time, don't be in such a hurry that you ship something without tracking!

You're going to blame the very patient buyer?

I think the buyer may very well have outridden the 30 -day window to file and may have costed themselves, and you may have just gotten lucky...

The buyer has every right to open a case via PayPal, they have up to 180 days to do so. Since you cannot prove delivery as you had no tracking you will lose the case. Buyer can also open a claim using their credit card, and the same applies, no tracking = no proof of delivery. The six weeks only means they were very patient. Best of luck to you....
