I've had this problem for years now and ebay can't explain why this keeps
on happening. I offer 5% off of 5 items and 10% on 10 items, occasionally
ebay will split the order into two sales sticking me with an extra transaction
fee by paypal. i know the buyer is putting everything in the shopping cart
not making two separate orders because they are getting the discount.
Is this happening to anyone else. I would appreciate any input. thanks.

I have never seen that happen on my account. The discount only applies if all is done in one transaction.
Is it possible they split the payment between two forms - like a gift card with the balance on a credit card?
Did this happen with a recent transaction? Maybe one of the community team can check it out for you.

According to a post over on the Powerseller Board, this may be because eBay put some of your items in Guaranteed Delivery, and others aren't, and they're splitting them into 2 transactions.

landco said the problem has been occuring for years and guaranteed delivery hasn't been around that long. Are the posters with GD split transactions receiving two separate payments with two separate paypal transaction fees or are the transactions just split up in the eBay sales view?

eBay has at various points done various things that caused multiple item purchases to be split up into multiple payments. Splitting 5 or 10 items into 2 transactions (rather than 5 or 10) is a new twist on that problem, and is apparently the result of something related to Guaranteed Delivery. The poster on the PSDB confirmed that is what separates the two groups of items they had separated. They could be wrong, I'm just passing it along for informational purposes.

👍 I was asking questions to piece together the connections.

I presume they aren't different mail classes.... ie one priority, one lst class/ one fedex, one USPS?
