Buyer paid less, how to invoice?

Somehow, the buyer paid less for the entire order, than how much it's going to cost me for shipping. The listing was for $17 plus free shipping. They paid around $4 for the entire order.

I want to send them an invoice for $7 if they want to continue purchasing this item. How do I send them an invoice

You don't...what if buyer bought it due to the low shipping rate?

You take a 'hit or a loss' on shipping...a learning experience we have all gone through before.

I wouldn't cancel it either...that would be a'ding' on your account.

Plus there is always feedback from a buyer.

You show one sale with "Free"  shipping.

How are you going to convince the buyer that the "Free"  shipping is not?

Nothing you can do now, except ship. Your listing stated Free Shipping. In the future, proofread your listing before going live.

Somehow? Your listing offered Free Shipping!

9 of your 16 current listings are offering Free Shipping, if that is not what you want them you had better revise those listing right NOW.

You also have two listings that only offer Local Pickup, for one of them is a large furniture item which is appropriate for pickup only, the other is just a sweater, no reason why you can ship that so I assume it's another mistake.

You may want to change some of your other listings as they also are offering "Free Shipping."

Or the same thing may happen again.

You start off by telling the buyer to let's be real, nothing in life is ever really "free".

That top has free shipping, so there's nothing to invoice.

Nothing you can do but ship it.

Some of your other items have free shipping also.

Have a great day.

You can't.  If you offer free shipping it's your responsibility to make sure the item price will cover shipping.  I can see the same thing occurring for the red sweater you have listed if it ships to Maine.

The buyer thinks shipping is Free.   Or it' included in the total paid to the seller.

The buyer also couldn't care any less if the seller takes a hit

on shipping.

What I meant was, the buyer paid less for the item then it will cost me for shipping. The listing is for $17 plus free shipping. They only paid around $4 total! Shipping will be more like $6. I'd like to invoice them another $7 if they want to continue with the purchase

@layersofmyheart

I mistakenly sold something heavy with "free shipping" once.

It happened because I created the listing right after creating a legit "free shipping" listing.

eBay used the shipping I chose on the previous listing, and I didn't catch it.

I had to honor the terms of the sale, so the buyer got a great deal.

A costly mistake on my part, and I've taken steps to ensure it won't happen again.

Wait a minute. This isn't even a shipping price issue, so let's not even refer to that.

Can we see a screenshot of this listing? You are saying that the price you have it listed for is $17, and the buyer paid only $4? Other than you accidentally accepting a $4 buyer offer, I don't see how else that can happen. I'll need to see some more info so we can find out what happened. You can redact sensitive info.

Can we also see your "awaiting shipments page" if this transaction is on there? That'd be weird if it was unless the $4 offer I mentioned is the cause of this.

Another thing I can think of is that you may have gotten a spoof payment notice, but I doubt that's what's going on here.
