Buyer left neutral feedback. His reason "I like to wait and see before leaving positive feedback"

I sold an item to a buyer. The buyer left me a neutral feedback "I have not used the item. I received it in good order."  I then messaged the buyer asking if they need any assistance with their order.  Their response, " I would like to wait to see if everything is good.. nothing against you before I leave positive feedback I need to know if the products good"

Ebay refuses to remove the feedback saying it's the buyers experience. The buyer didn't even use the item!

What's the point of feedback if this is ebays stance?

It is unlikely that even in the past that Ebay would have removed this as the buyer [from what you have told us] did not say anything that breaks one of the feedback rules.

Your best approach on this would be to write to the buyer and politely and professionally explain to them the harm this can do to a seller's account.  Ask them if they would be willing to revise the feedback.  If they agree, let them know that they will receive an email from Ebay in a few minutes and inside that email will be a link so they can easily change the feedback.

But don't send a Revision form unless the buyer knows it is coming and they have agreed to change the feedback because they have a shelf life.  Once they time out, you can't send another one on the same transaction.  Also you need to tell the buyer to expect the email from Ebay otherwise they may over look it.

It appears you were able to get it removed one way or another.  Did the buyer agree to change it?

This is my posting account.  I've been selling for 20 years and never experienced this. Very frustrating

What's the point of feedback regardless of eBay's stance?  You can't fix stupid.

Have to agree, this is kinda a dick move.

I mean, why bother leaving feedback at all???  Why not wait till you actually have used the item, etc?  Ugh, some people.

That's definitely annoying, but since it's neutral, I'd ignore it and not worry, it doesn't affect your percentage.  If you wanted to follow up and request a revision later you could, but I wouldn't poke the bear and risk it turning into a negative instead.

In the past ebay would have removed it no problem. They completely switched their stance on feedback this year.

That is the BEST outcome.  It is likely the buyer simply did not understand the impact the FB had.  Now they know.  GREAT job!!

Ebay should add "stupidity" to he list of feedback violations.

The maybe I could get my "thank you" removed.

I'll take a Mahalo any day.  Good enough for me.

Have a great day!🌴

Sadly, some people idol at being difficult and disruptive.  They don't take into consideration how their words and comments effect others.  To them it's a source of amusement.  Smh.

Yeah you're right.

It just puzzles me how someone would give me a neutral and say "thank you".

Did I do something wrong?

Stupidity should be on the list of feedback violations 😂

@inhawaii

Exactly, did we do something wrong?!? Puzzling to say the least!

Received neutral this week, “as described” … well, great, so an item showing up “as described” isn’t a positive thing now? SMH
