Have a buyer that negotiated a price - ok. Claimed he was a vet and wanted a discount. Ok. Then was surprised he had to pay sales tax, strapped for cash, yet has a site with 100's of items, >2000 reviews, many very expensive items >$2000. They have to know about sales tax.
Then wanted me to through another item in for free.
My response was - The sale not working for you, please send a cancellation, I will approve. they then said just ship it.
Now I am concerned that this will continue once the item is delivered (damaged whatever).
Is there a way for the seller to cancel? I feel really uncomfortable with the buyer. It is a high value item that I am shipping signature required.
Thanks
Thanks

I would back out of that as fast as possible.
Cancel and BBL but you are going to get a negative.

LOLOL, the fact that he says he's "strapped for cash" while purchasing a comic book that costs over $750!

But.

This is not allowed and could be the reason for a Defect-free cancellation.
Here is your out!
Nice catch @reallynicestamps !

THERE is your out. Report the buyer for "demanding an item not in the original listing". That will give you good cause to cancel.
HOWEVER do NOT click on Cancel Sale. Go instead to "refund the buyer". It had the same effect BUT there are more options AND an opportunity to add your own note to the cancellation explaining the additional demand. You do not have that option under "cancel sale":.
**************
Parenthetically - ANY email that begins with "I'm a veteran" or "my husband just died" or "my son is on the army" followed by "and I'm short of cash" or "I can't afford" or a request for "an additional item" or "a gift card" or any combination of the above is typically the opening salvo of a well worn scam. Immediately block the buyer and
RUN AWAY.
They are betting that you are so hungry for a sale that you will put your "spidey senses" on hold.

Thanks all for the responses. I decided to ship and so far worked out.
It was a learning experience for me.
Unfortunate that there really is no easy way for a buyer to cancel an order. "invalid address" or item no longer available (something like that). Feels unethical on the buyer's part as it is really not true.
Thanks

Buyers can't cancel an order, they can only ask the seller if they'll cancel.
