Hi all,
I sold a new Canada Goose jacket on eBay and shipped via fedex. The buyer send an email and I can tell they are a professional scammer on eBay. They said the brand new jacket I sent did not match the description and was dirty, old and gross. Clearly a lie and uploaded photos of only what I can assume is an obviously diff jacket.
I wrote the buyer back saying they are scamming and also sent ebay a note reporting the buyer. My paypal account is frozen until this is resolved.
Here is my big problem...I was working this morning and saw on my ebay Mobile app that I had a notification. I went in to see if it was a new message and inadvertently hit CONTINUE button which I did not realize had the "I accept the return" as a DEFAULT?! So now the status shows as I accept the return and I have no way to reach out to anyone at ebay and get this resolved.
I am literally beyond frustrated at this experience and not being able to speak to someone asap to get this mess sorted. I mean really, I dont even want to sell on here anymore this has proven to be such a rotten experience let alone that I now am worried I am out not only my new jacket but the value I sold it for.
Can someone PLEASE help me?! Is there a number I can call...some way I can get this resolved????

First, your PayPal account is not "frozen" - there is simply a hold on the funds related to this tranaction.
Second, when a buyer files a "not as described" dispute, a seller really has only two options - either pay return shipping, or just issue a refund without having the buyer return the item.
While you do have the option to provifde evidence and 'ask eBay to step in' , but in the vast majority of caes that is a fool's errand - because eBay will not consider your 'evidence' and will rule in favor of the buyer. When that happens, you still have to refund and you get a very damaging 'unresolved case' defect (a handful of those in a year can get you suspended).
From eBay's perspective, your photos do not prove what you shipped any more than the buyer's photos prove what he received. And since ebay does not have a time machine to find out who is lying, someone has to refund the buyer - and eBay is in te business to make money, not to lose money.
On eBay, a dishonest buyer steal any item from any seller at any time using a 'not as described' dispute. Right now you are learning this firsthand, and once this painfiul lesson is over you will need to decide whether you want to accept the resk and still sell here.

Maybe you can get them in trouble for mail fraud, if you can convince your local Post Master that they sent you back the wrong jacket?

Thank you for your response. I'm not sure how this makes any sense as sellers on ebay then. This jacket was brand new and expensive. Now I am out both the money and my jacket because I have no protection??

I had something similar happen to me. Ebay stepped in and helped me. The buyer ask for a $300 dollar credit due to the bag not being described as it appeared. The bag was in great condition, the buyer clearly wanted the bag for a lot less. The buyer sent all emails through Ebay, I reported all the emails and took the correct steps in filing a claim. It was time consumming and the buyer gave me a bad rating, I submitted the rating/comment for review and it was taken off by Ebay. I had to prove my case with Ebay, I have no doubt this person is a pro at doing that to everyone He/She is buying from. Ebay backed me up and this person didn't get a credit for the item. So just be prepared to spend as much as needed to stop people like that for getting away with trying and taking advantage of others. That behavior scares new sellers and can take the fun and insentive out of wanting to sell your things. Stand firm and contact Ebay, they will help you.

This makes me feel a little better...I have been waiting for them to open up via phone so I can talk to a real person. I emailed both eBay and Paypal and have all our emails recorded. I hope eBay steps up to protect a seller in something so obvious. It really is disconcerting and beyond frustrating.
Unfortunately, customer service has changed a lot in the past year. Many of us have found that the Far East customer service center will (most of the time) just tell us what we want to hear ... they are either not well trained or their culture is dishonest customer service.
Yes, it is possible that you are being scammed. But, it is also possible that the buyer is honest and just wants to return the jacket because they changed their mind - on eBay, there really is no such thing as "no returns'. Most experienced sellers know that it is self-defeating to list an item as "no returns" because all the buyer has to do is find that there's something about it that is not as described and they can return the item ... but at your expense (if you had listed it with "30 day returns and buyer pays return shipping" then you would have had a higher probability of not having to pay for shipping).
Here's what you should expect.
Finally, assuming that all you lose in this situation was the shipping to and back from this buyer, consider this a lesson learned in a couple of areas.

OP, you'll probably need to wait to see what comes back from the buyer and then if it's a coat dragged up from the trash come back here.
Fwiw, I've never read on the site where an eBay employee has ever claimed that sellers have no protection against return fraud and must accept it as a cost of business. If it's here as policy in black & white to be referenced, I'd love to see the link.

I decided to see just how many Canada Goose items were selling on eBay and was astounded. Almost 2000 listings. Now Canada Goose has their certified sellers and I don't believe they sell on eBay.
I can tell you that most of the jackets online come from a Distributer in China. My husband even bought one. We compared it to a Certified jacket and honestly, other than a small area of stitching being different and the hologram on one of the labels wans't quite right but was close, it was pretty much identical and selling at 2/3rds the price plus free shipping.
Crazy.

Who knows what it is filled with though...rat hair?

I'm ready to buy a new quality heavy duty winter coat. I was thinking North Face, but I'm not sure where they are made either. Which brand(s) are manufactured in the US? If I can avoid Chinese items I do. Anybody have suggestions, please share! I'm not big on fashion and buying clothing, so I don't pay much attention to these details, and am clueless where to start in my search. Seeing as how I have been meaning to get on this task and get it done for a couple months now, maybe they are on sale. Procrastination can work in your favor when the item is seasonal. 🙂
I don't think the OP is going to get the coat back that they sold. buyers aren't required to post pictures of items to be returned, so that this "buyer" went beyond the requirements only helps prove that they are going to send back their own old junk.
There needs to be a verification system for higher priced items. The current system of --believe whatever the buyer says is not working, ebay. It's failing miserably. I understand now there is a verification service for handbags. It needs to be far extended, I can think of no other way to stop this madness of constant theft.

I don't have the $995 to buy what I want, but I do have the $218 to buy something identical.

Oh my. They are a bit pricey aren't they. I'm not willing to spend that much either. I suppose that is why so many items we end up buying were made by the Chinese, when North American goods are this expensive.
Is North Face or Land's End made in the US? Canada ok too, just want to avoid the Chinese.

Orvis, Duluth Trading, Woolrich, Wintergreen Northern Wear and Carhartt are all made in the US or have lines that are made in the US.
