I am new to Ebay selling, and I am selling an expensive item (starting at $500). I got three offers:
1) $1,000
2) $800 (which is the highest offer I want)
3) $1,200
However, I turned them all down because I thought they were scammers. Simply because they had no recent feedback, a different shipping address than their location (i.e. their location says, "UK," but their shipping address is somewhere in NY), and the first one asked me to message them to tell them to pay me.
Am I wrong to think they were scammers?
If I was correct in my thinking, what other red flags should I look for?

New sellers selling this type of item are fresh bait for scammers. End the listing, relist it as 'buy it now- immediate payment'. Then, do not respond to anyone sending 'offers' or 'asking for text #s' etc... those are all scammers.
Know that even with a Buy it Now, Immediate Payment- you still can get scammed (they return a rock for a full refund etc.)

That one was definitely a scam attempt. They planned to get your e-mail through text messaging, then they would have sent a fake payment e-mail trying to get you to ship right away. They may or may not have asked you to include a $500 gift card and they would pay you an extra $100 for the trouble of going to get it.
Follow the advice in the first response on this thread or even better, list it with "local pickup only" and don't offer a shipping option.
