Buyer demanding refund for "damage" that isn't damage

A buyer sent a message outside business days and bought the item in question. Then got mad that I didnt ship it fast enough all in the span of 4 hours on a non business day. This item I acquired first hand at the source and verified no damage. There is no certificate of authenticity in this area. I kept this item pristine until I decided I didn't want it anymore. When I made the post, I described it in detail specifically for collectors of said item. I included pictures and everything.

Now the buyer is demanding a refund for "damage" that isn't damage after demanding I spend 3x the cost of shipping in addition to the base shipping fee ebay collected. Refunding the buyer will put me in the red for half the cost of the item because of this. Is there anything I can to not lose money?

Tell him to return it for a refund.

"I regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."

Don't say who will pay for shipping.

If he demands that you pay for shipping, tell him that he will have to open a Claim with eBay for you to do that.

Which is almost true.

"I regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."

He may drop it right there because he doesn't want to be on eBay's radar.

"I regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."

If he opens the Claim, send the return shipping promptly.

If he uses it and returns the item, refund.

Then Block him.

Don't get into an argument about the condition of the item at any point.

"I regret you are unhappy with your purchase. Please return it for refund."

Relist, with any appropriate changes, and get some of your investment back.

If what he returns is not in the same condition that it was sent, you can then Report it to eBay.

But don't argue.

Because.

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM NOVEMBER 2022

The problem with zombie threads is that the information may be out of date and now incorrect.

You would be better to start your own thread, since you need information about receiving a destroyed item back.
