Buyer damaged my item to file for return.

I have a buyer who deliberately damaged my item so he could claim "not as described" and file for a return. eBay reviewed the case and decided in the buyers favor even though I have pictures to prove my accusation. What happens if the buyer returns my item in unsellable condition ?

When the item comes back to you, you have no choice but to refund the buyer.

Perhaps the item was damaged in transit.

When you receive the item back, you will be required to refund the buyer.

Since you don't offer Free Returns you will be expected to refund the buyer in full.

You can report the buyer for damaging the item and abusing the Money Back Guarantee. Ask eBay to check if the buyer has a history of this. If they do then you might be able to appeal the case.

Since you already let this escalate to eBay and they found in favor of the buyer you will get a defect on your selling account.

You have pictures of  your buyer damaging your item?

You believe he was doing this to avoid return shipping costs. It is entirely possible. It is also possible it was damaged in shipping. While you believe the former, eBay nearly always gives the buyer the benefit of the doubt. The Money Back Guarantee protects the buyer’s interests only. Sellers are on their own and must protect themselves, which in most cases would be shipping insurance.

There is really no way to know for sure what you suspect is actually true. But what was there about the pictures your buyer provided you documenting the damage that made you suspicious?

Re: Buyer damaged my item to file for return.

Buyer damaged ?? or Shipping damaged ?? Most times hard to tell which did the damage. And either way you will have to reimburse the buyer after your item is returned !! But for people who don't believe a BUYER can and will damage a product because he/she is unhappy with it !! THINK AGAIN ! I sold a item that was deliberately melted 😳 MELTED as in FIRE MELTED 😳 and The buyer showed me the pictures of it ( LOL ) and I asked him why he melted MY ITEM on purpose ?? He wouldn't respond to me after he realized I knew what he did 😄 The post office may do a lot of things with our items BUT BARN FIRES ISN'T ONE OF THEM ( LOL ) !! So there are people out there that will go to the extreme to get a refund of their money. 😳 and EBAY/YOU will always give it back to them !!!

You can't prove they damaged it unless they admitted it

Same thing happened to me and I had before and after photos to support my claim.....bottom line....Ebay will support the buyers, not the sellers. No choice here.
