Buyer claiming wrong address

Good Morning. So I had a buyer just message me about a keyboard I sold them a few days back, order total $99.99. They claim the address in the order details is their old address and they sent me the correct address. The item is already on the truck for delivery today. I doubt there's anything I can do at this point as far as changing the address through FedEx. My only thought was telling the buyer to go to that old address and wait for the truck 🤷. Possibly a scam for all I know (buyer has feedback of 2). Anyway, what's the best way to handle this?

Thanks

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

I'd tell the buyer they should try to work with the current resident of the address entered at checkout so they can retrieve the package from them, or tell them to contact FedEx and see if they can hold the package for pickup.

If the package is delivered you'll be covered by seller protections.

If the package is returned to sender you'll be covered by seller protections. FedEx will charge you return shipping costs and after you have the package in hand you can refund the buyer less shipping both ways, and less non-refundable fees, though you won't be required to if the buyer files a non-receipt claim.

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

not your fault.  The buyer is responsible for keeping the address updated.  The person at the old address hopefully refuses it or send it back. Either way the information will show delivered and you are not responsible.  if it comes back to you they will need to pay for the reshipping.

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

Did they leave a forwarding address?, If they did it should go to the New address, If not it will probably wind up a return to sender unable to deliver, Either case it is not your fault.

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

A delivery was attempted today but they could not locate the recipient. I contacted Fedex but the package has restrictions and I was unable to update the address. I would assume the package will end up being returned to me. Does anyone know if I will be charged another fee for it to be shipped back to me? The buyer mentioned cashapp or something if I need to re-ship it but I would assume that's not smart as eBay would probably not cover me if he claims he didn't get it. So how would I handle a package being returned to me but buyer still wanting the item? Do I refund him after receiving it back and make a new listing for him?

As explained above, the buyer is responsible for verifying that their shipping address is correct.

You WILL have protection if the item is returned to you if the buyer opens a non-receipt claim. Just respond to the claim with tracking showing that the item is/was undeliverable.

Although you aren't required to refund the buyer when you get it back, I would deduct shipping in both directions as well as the fee Fedex will charge for returning it. Then I'd issue a refund for the difference, making yourself whole.

If you don't want to deal with this buyer again, add his ID to your BBL - blocked bidder list. If you do want to resell it, relist the item, send him a link or the item number and have him rebuy it, verifying that the address is correct.

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

1.  As others  have stated you are in the clear - do not offer to refund.

2.  The  buyer is shown the ship to address at the time they pay for the item - they  had an opportunity to  provide the  correct new address at that time.  We do it all the time when  we buy stuff and ship to a our children's, grand children's address.

3.  Only the buyer can  request a change of address or a hold mail - easy to do on USPS online - never did it on FedEx or UPS the receiver has an electronic signature to confirm the change.  There may be an added    cost  depending how  far away the new  address is.  FYI

Re: Buyer claiming wrong address

Where will I be able to see the return shipping fee along with any additional fees Fedex will charge?

Fedex updated the tracking today and it looks like it's being returned to me. I believe the buyer still wants the item so do I just re-list the item and let him re-buy it?

Thanks
