Buyer claiming screen scratch

I’m a new seller. Just selling stuff from my house I don’t need anymore. I sold a MacBook I don’t use at a very fair price. It was in excellent condition with no scratches. Buyer upon purchase starts hammering me with messages to upgrade the shipping. So I actually shipped it to him with faster shipping than my ad offered. I went out of my way to ship it fast.

anyways, he claims it arrived with a screen nick, which I did not have when I shipped it. Item was listed as used. Buyer wanted a return for refund and I told him I don’t accept returns. In all due respect it’s a used laptop it will have minor wear. Here is a photo of the scratch he alleges, which is very minor. Buyer says  he’s going to get ebay involved. Am I okay or what do I do?

The buyer was showing his true colours right at the start.

I would have cancelled, and took a defect..

This sounds like a horrible place to sell things

Yeah and this is also sometimes a horrible place to get advice.

Everything is what a person "perceives" it to be to themselves. There is no right and wrong here, there are different opinions mostly based on previous experience. One chooses to follow the advice which resonates most with them....

True to an extent. There has been enough patently BAD advice given on here from jaded sellers. Some used to call this place "Psycho Central" for a reason (it used to be called "Seller Central")

I decided to accept the return but the buyer is still being absolutely ridiculous about buying a used item and expecting it to be immaculate. I digress.. as said above I guess I learned eBays rules the hard way

From your listing: Laptop is in excellent condition. No sticky keys. No scratches on screen. Runs perfectly. I just don’t use it so I’m selling it.

For a $1,600 even if it's used, most people would expect pristine.

I may not expect pristine but I would expect the screen to have no scratches.

Buyer claiming screen scratch

Yup I just purchased a cellphone  off eBay. Seller said it was open box. Thing has a TON of micro scratches. On the front and back. That’s not open box lol. Lots of sellers give false representation of the products they are sell to get a quick buck. It’s annoying. Now I have to go through the process of returning it because seller didn’t give accurate honest description of the condition of the item. I also got a laptop where the sell said it looked fine and when I got it also had scratches and scuffs. They weren’t visible in the pic’s because of the way the pictures were taken. You have to look at the laptop from certain angles to see them. I can deal with 1 or two scratches but not too many.

This post is over 2 years old.  If you have any issues with the items you purchased here on ebay, you can always open a return and get your money back if you are not satisfied with your purchase.  Ebay offers all buyers a 30 day money back guarantee.  Here's a link with more info:
